Mission got rejected again for “images that isn’t mine” but I’m the actual artist

So I’ve been trying to submit a series of mission banner with the theme of Sweets of Rome, where I drew them myself on my tablet using a vector drawing app and then submitted them in the mission creator tool.

Waited for a while and got a rejection email saying that I used an image that isn’t mine. So I sent back a photo of the image in the app that I used to draw it.

I guess that wasn’t enough as I got a reply that they confirmed that the image wasn’t mine and I didn’t have the right to use it.

I’m confused. Doing a google image search only leads it back to my own twitter account. So who is this person that I’m allegedly stealing from? 🤷‍♀️

They don't actually check if you're the artist, they usually just look and say, "can I find this image online? Yes? Then it's copyrighted, reject."

    Hugely frustrating process.

Not likely to get any responses here unfortunately. Seems to be a wall of silence in regards to missions, making them successfully and the future of missions in general.

  • @NianticBrian @NianticThia this is something you guys should look into

  • If you copy a meme, emoti, or picture from anywhere, it could have a copyright imbedded in it, that you can't see, but a program can.

Best bets are to take a picture with your camera OR use one or more portal pictures (Niantic already owns them).

You can also google with "free clipart", like "cupcake free clipart" and maybe get an image you can use... (some things game the system to try to show up on searches where they shouldn't).

  • Update. One mission accepted, one rejected with the same copy and paste message.

  • Same problem here. I also send a mail t Support with a few pictures of the painting progress ad a link to a Fanartside were I placed it under the same Name.

The only respons: "We have proved, that you don't have the rights to use the picture."

My question is, when Do anyone have the rights to use a picture?

Little funfact. If you use a picture from Google you have lesser problem.

  • After Months I got 26/30 online.

5 & 11 got rejected 3 times because of mobbing

    And 3 & 8 because I don't have the rights

This isn't relevant to the images being discussed here *which the mission creator drew* and which do not appear to be fan art of anyone else's IP (intellectual property.)

Apparently user made missions now aren't a priority to Niantic on the Ingress side and it's really showing. It's pretty sad that there has been silence on missions, mission rejections and any other questions asking for help in this matter. @niantic

Dude, missions have never been a priority. I'd bet money that nobody at Niantic has mission approval or policy as a full-time job. It's probably something interns and customer service reps do when they run out of important work. Any slowdowns in mission approval are because those employees are busy and/or users are flooding the system with "Second Sunday" banners that will only be used for one day.

From the outside, Niantic's inconsistencies look like a a major problem with procedural drift -- there's nobody running quality assurance on mission approvals to insure consistency, and approvers aren't getting consistent training. Probably, new approvers are handed an internal FAQ somebody wrote years ago, and left entirely on their own to figure the day-to-day interpretations of some overly simplistic guidelines. You don't get answers to policy questions, because there's literally nobody with a job description that includes "answer questions and resolve disputes about mission approvals."

    https://youtu.be/wz-PtEJEaqY

Thats the reason whole it Tages 30 min + between each rejection.

What’s that video, I can’t seem to watch it.

Edit : Never mind, had to go to YouTube directly.

  • Oh gosh, that’s so frustrating to be so close to completing but be rejected all the time

Update : After a month of persisting, the one that kept being rejected was finally accepted just a few hours ago. Approval seems random to me. No changes done to the mission, just a resubmit as soon as I got the rejection email.

I’m not sure what advice I can give. Have tried replying to the rejected email. And you do get a human reply from Ingress Support, but in so far they are as useful as a copy and paste message. I don’t think they actually read the evidence.

Also writing in to Niantic Support on twitter basically replied to me only after two weeks … to contact in game support. 🤷‍♀️

In the past month, I’ve had mission one banner which was approved altogether at the first go. I had another banner rejected but all approved on the second go after making small changes.

In the end, I think there is no point trying to contact support. Just resubmit and resubmit and resubmit till it gets approved.

  • Yesterday I also got Mails. Nr. 11 Approved, the other 3 rejected because of:

    • Defamatory text or image
    • Primary intention of trolling, harassment, abuse, attack or ridicule
    • Inappropriate images (including curse words/obscenity)

  • If you drew a picture of something you don't have intellectual rights to (like a Marvel or anime character, or a McDonald's logo) - you are infringing on someone's copyright, and Niantic is correct to reject.

However, I think the post that starts this thread is just stitching together different pictures that someone else created. Niantic is also correct to reject it because you don't own the components.

Meanwhile, just saw a darth Vader banner approved in California, lol

  • That’s quite disrespectful to me considering the hours I took to draw my images.

Regardless, as posted above, after about a month I’ve finally gotten all of my mission banner approved.

I thank you for your opinion. Have a nice day.

  • Just submit again till you get them approved. From my experience it takes about a week for a reply and approval is totally random.

Saw the entire picture of the banner. Looks really cool! All the best 👍😃
