Cross-promotional future events
in General
Now that we have a regular events schedule going, I wonder if we will see some events in Ingress to celebrate new Niantic games when they release?
Pokémon GO had their event for when Ingress Prime came out, so it would be nice to have something to celebrate other Niantic games in Ingress as they come out, as we have Transformers & Pikmin on the way. Maybe the XM on the map looks like flowers for Pikmin and we have a KCap event? Maybe giant robots appear in AR when using Battle Beacons?
I am aware that previous attempts at cross promotion have flopped;
so how do you think it could be right for Ingress?

it would be nice!
I'm in two minds about it.
A) The other games have nothing to do with Ingress. Just because I play EA FIFA doesn't mean I want anything to do with EA The Sims.
B) Maybe it's nice to promote the other games to help fund Ingress.
If it's done, it should be low key and via email not within the game itself? This prevents dilution of Ingress feel and gameplay experience.
If other Niantic games are cross-promoted in the future, it should have some sort of effect on the Ingress gameplay. Niantic ran a simple, yet effective promotion when Harry Potter released:
It had ties to Harry Potter (Platform 9 3/4), it gave agents something in their own game (a 1.975x AP bump) and it wasn't just.. randomly posted, like the Catan one.
Ah thanks. I was trying to recall what they did for Harry Potter: Wizards Unite. I liked it as a little thing.
See I disagree with that.
"Magical bonus" flies in the face of Ingress lore. Nine and 3/4 bonus implies HP has a weird impact on the Ingress 'world'.
I'd prefer a direct advert for the game via email tbh.
I have to disagree with that, but here’s why:
From a Lore perspective, the AP bonus (and levels, AP itself, etc) is not governed by XM or the Portal Network. It’s an arbitrary “point system” put in place by the Scanner’s creator (OLW and the NIA) or the other companies/forces. They can adjust the AP system however they want, with little explanation needed. Like with the Retrograde time periods, it’s mostly just “hey here’s extra AP for XYZ reason”. It doesn’t have to be strictly tied to lore. Just like in the case @InvestigateXM brought up, they basically just said “enjoy this extra AP” without really relating it to Lore or other games. We got the insinuation, but it wasn’t said outright.
however, when it comes to events that impact XM, the gamemap, or the Portal Network itself I agree there needs to be a Lore tie-in. Examples like Matryoshka, XM saturation levels/strength, etc.
AP doesn't have to be tied, but it adds to the feel of the game when it is tied to the world-view system.
Lore or not, I'm worried about the future of the game.
At the same time, the lore hasn't really progressed for about a year now.
