Prime and Googlemail
I know this is a known issue. It has been a known issue for months yet Niantic are unable to give an update on a fix.
Two of my family are affected by this issue and with the upcoming server upgrade I'm wondering if they'll even be able to use Redacted. Even if they can, what are the chances of retiring Redacted before this issue is fixed, leaving many agents without a working account?
Surely an authentication issue shouldn't be this difficult to address. The only explanation I can come up with is nobody cares enough to actually work on it. Please prove me wrong. I find it baffling that Prime is supported but fails yet Redacted is unsupported but works.

Apparently this has been... fixed.
"Update: This issue has been resolved and you should be able to access your Ingress account on prime by signing in with the @gmail.com version of your account. If you experience any issues or notice that a new account was created while logging in, please contact support."
For my wife and son, there is no way to log in with the @gmail.com version because each time the account is set up on a device it's automatically converted to a @googlemail.com account.
So in summary, no way has this been resolved!
My husband is having this issue as well, have you had any joy figuring this out? I've just got him into doing missions with me it would be frustrating for him to lose access now he finally gets the appeal of the game!

There's a member of our community as well who is unable to access Prime for the same reason. Since Niantic saw fit to disable Redacted for a whole day for "maintenance" (no way routine maintenance would take 24 hours) they lost a 1000+ day Sojourner streak. Is Niantic going to restore the Sojourner of people who lost it through no fault of their own? (Also, because they can't sign in to Prime, they can't access this community either.)
It's not Niantics faults - the mail migration failed.
Simply sign into your google account --> options --> confirm migration to gmail.com (sth like: use gmail as default). About 1h later your can run Prime.
Sounds like the situation is because you're using an android phone and the primary account on the phone blocks you from adding "the same" account with a different name
i offer this as a workaround.
1) set up a Facebook account if you don't have one you want to link to the game.
2) use a different phone, log into ingress using the google account name which should now work
3) link the Facebook account to your agent profile
Now you should be able to log into your agent profile on your phone using your fb details
if you can use an iPhone for step 2, that prevents android trying to sync all your stuff to that phone. Either way, remember to log out/remove the account from that phone after you're done
There are still a lot of people in Germany affected by this. They joined Ingress when Google used username@googlemail.com as the email address in some European countries for legal reasons.
These people cannot logon to Prime, but they can use Redacted without a problem so far. Once Redacted is switched off, they will not be able to continue playing.
So, this issue must be addressed. The steps suggested above by users do not seem to help. Is there a clear sequence of steps to perform for these agents to allow them to continue playing Ingress after Redacted was switched off? @NianticBrian
