Can't login to forum from ingame browser

I opened ingress and got an announcement prompt popup about the new drone avatar. I clicked on the "read more" button which opened the forum page using in-game browser (not my system browser). I then proceeded to try to login to the forum using my Google account and after selecting my account I got the following error:

I'm running Android 11 and my default system browser is Samsung Internet Browser, not Chrome.

I have no problems logging to the forum using either of the standalone browsers.
