Recursion Questions

Couple of questions regarding the Recursion feature.

1- How long does Recursion take? I have read about a countdown timer etc. Was thinking if it is a good idea to recurse just before a First Saturday to get bonus AP and level up quick.

2- I am sure I read somewhere that certain medals do not count for your level requirements. Is there anywhere this is listed? Especially with so many new badges coming out (eg Scout, Maverick, Epoch)

    1) 4 hours

note: there is no double AP for FS currently, you will need to wait for an event for any sort of double AP or use an apex boost

    2) badges/medal count regardless of where they came from.

You don't have to worry about medal requirements with recursion. Once you have enough to hit 16 the first time, you have enough to hit 16 every time you recurse. It's just about AP after you recurse.

Thanks for reaching out, @GodZillaz88! Also, thank you @ZeroHecksGiven & @kiloecholima for sharing your inputs. There's a cooldown period of 4 hours if you change your mind after the Recursion. You may stop the Recursion before the cooldown timer ends, and Recursion should not affect your account or inventory, you can Recurse at any point in time. Most of the medals are not level specific. They are gained as per the achievements. However, to level up Medal's tiers are needed.

Any badge with only 1 tier (including character badges, paid badges) count only as bronze. Since bronze badges are not a requirement for leveling up, they don't count.

Badges with 2 tiers (e.g. hexathlon) count as bronze and silver. Badges with 3 tiers count as bronze, silver and gold.

Was thinking if it is a good idea to recurse just before a First Saturday to get bonus AP and level up quick.

First Saturday, being virtual, does not give bonus AP right now. But - there are monthly events that usually gives bonus AP for specific actions. For example, during the one that ended a few days ago, it was double AP for deploy. You can use this, together with Apex, to quickly level back to 8 after recursion.

Note: switching faction just before a First Saturday is a bad idea and could confuse the organizers enough that you don't get your stat tick. I'm also not sure what would happen if you recurse during a First Saturday, since your "AP gain" could be something like -40 million.

  • I have a question to add to this.

Say I get to level 16 with 40 million AP. If I just keep getting AP without recursing and say get enough to get to level 8 and then recurse would I be level 8 instantly or would I be level 1 but all time AP of 41.2 million.

@FluffyCobraa you would be L1 with 0AP but a lifetime of 41.2 million AP.

  • Thanks for confirming, @Engrish! @FluffyCobraa Any amount of AP you earn after level 16 will get added to your lifetime AP and upon Recursing you will be with 0AP in level 1.

However, to level up Medal's tiers are needed.

Just a minor correction here: I think what you mean is, to level up the medal, you need to reach the medal tiers. Once you recurse, all you need is AP to level up as you have already completed the medal tier requirements from when you hit L16 the first time.

  • So to clarify #2... all badges count?

I was under impression certain ones would not count (eg if required 1 black, but a black Sojurner badge would not be allowed and I needed another (3rd) black badge) *fictitious scenario, just trying to make sure

The badge question is in relation to L16 requirements; I did understand that after recursion I would keep my existing silver / gold / platinum badges for the level up requirements

    l16 medals requirement don't change : 4 platinium, 2 black.

So as you had them for 1st l16 you already got them for the next ones.
