A reasonable question for resistance.

GreenVamGreenVam ✭✭✭✭✭

My fellow resistance, as an enlightened man, I want to ask you - why are you in conflict with us? After passing the last event where we together saved the earth from invasion, do we still have reasons for enmity? What is your faction's idea at the moment? What is all this struggle for portals for when there are no more shapers and other exogenous creatures?

Do factions even matter when spoofers are the ones getting the game?

How do you intend to get the right answer when the question is all wrong?

If your game is the no-game, you need nothing.

Wouldn't you get bored if there was no opposition? Build and either wait a week for decay or recharge forever?

this is a pvp game, isnt about conflict anymore...

Story has been on indefinite hold due to the pandemic

Prior to Dunraven story, another story arc was teased for Ingress Prime, using two AI's, Enlightened and Resistance, each with their own goals to continue the conflict.

Something that I had raised here

Until Brian Rose annonces a new story arc, there is no real conflict.

So we rely on the mini events, field art, Homogeneous Fields, etc, to provide motivation

To borrow from the former American politician Tip O'Neill, "All conflict is local." It is known hyperagressive players, and spoofers, that is the conflict.

Bigger macro stuff to override the day to day, we know who public enemy #1 is, how they play, etc. makes for stronger more cohesive game.

  • My take on this question is this: now that exogenous beings have been moved out of the equation, both the Enlightened and the Resistance are now attempting to utilize XM to its fullest potential. The Enlightenment, with their experience with the shapers, goes about this very directly, working with the XM itself. The Resistance prefer to use technology to harness the XM in a way they see as safe, since they were initially wary of the long-term effects of XM. The methodology each faction uses to create XM Constructs is evident in the designs of each faction’s drones: the Resistance drones tend to be more mechanical, while the Enlightened drones tend to be more geometric and abstract, as if they were sculpted by an idea. At this point in the story, the only difference between the factions is how they choose to make the tools they use.

  • Spoofers were always there. I can’t say they took the whole game, but if it is so, then we all should leave crying. Doesn’t happen yet, so it’s either we’re those spoofers, or the game is still ours 😄

    Storyline:

    Shapers never existed.

As a fellow resistance, I have the same question for Enlightened who put their faith and beliefs into the story above: if there are no shapers anymore, why do you, guys, still play, huh?))))

Because it's never been about aliens.

Resistance are a bunch of mindless sheeples put into motion by a shadowy US spy agency, to prevent the average person from being able to benefit from the creative and insightful aspects of XM, because that's a threat to the "world order" which puts the rich and powerful in charge and keeps the average person on subsistence existence.

RES aligned XM strips all creativity, insight and worth out of XM, where ENL aligned XM enhances it, raising humanity to new ideas, experiences and creativity.

It was never "aliens vs humans". That's the lie that the NIA wants you to believe, and you fell for it hook, line and burster.

Aliens never existed. Dunraven was an NIA facility. Even Roland Jarvis in the 1218 universe was a mistake. When epiphany night happened, every researcher was dosed with massive amounts of XM, but except for a few standouts, they all went Resistance. Why? Because Epiphany Night was an intentional attack by the NIA to ensure that their narrative was embedded in all subsequent research.

Lynton Wolfe was a rebel and wanted creativity for it's own worth. Hank Johnson wasn't there. Enoch Dalby was so creative he couldn't be swayed away from it, and Carrie Campbell... was murdered.

Jarvis was killed by the NIA, and came back deranged rambling about aliens.

    ...

ENL are not the patsies here.

The problem I have is this story begins with researchers being imprisoned for seeing too much. Whether they should or shouldn't be freed is where the rank and file come in.

As the rank and file are being fed information as seen from researcher pov, average agent is making multiple decisions.

There's no hard and fast rule but RESISTANCE view this as a threat, whereas ENLIGHTENMENT views this as opportunity.

What will it take for a big picture "leak" from a researcher to come out again? We get that the bug has limited access for an extended period of time. Perhaps that time has come. What form of "leak" should this take?

You underestimate the plague. Mark my words and see you Soon.

  • I assume you mean the "latest chapter begins" because the Story began in CERN in the 1218 universe.

To be honest, I always got the feeling that Nemesis arc opened the "bad ending" for both factions, stripping the mistery for once. Last year I said they killed the ENL twice because now we haven't a "story" to keep going on. The last attempts to revitalize the lore by trying to reopen the Nemesis arc (Eos Protocol) or suggesting that researchers may change their original alignment (Misty Hannah and connection with M.A.N.I.A) were not that really enjoying. According to her, it seems the Resistance is going now for Human Augmentation, same as the N'Zeer Nemesis node but I hope they don't force it on the rest of mankind.

The ENL has now an schism between Jarvis, who has dissapeared (lost his will, beliefs and power because how he misled the faction) and OLW, who seems more enthusiast BUUUUUUT has more individual perspective than Jarvis and only seeks personal gain.

(And then the Lore machine stopped)

Indeed, I have an hypothesis that XM may affect our brain circuitry. Depending on how it stimulates our brain, in some people, it may stimulate the brain amygdala and prefrontal cortex instigating fear towards XM (Resistance) while others may estimulate the prefrontal and corpus callosum connectivity (ENL) in order to feel synesthesia (I recall some researchers are synestethic).

Anyways a side effect of XM may induce hallucinations, that's why we see other stuff we may not see. On top of that, the XM could be used as a driver and resonates with portals, so the noise we hear while we hack may be the thoughts of other people, the higher the level, the better resolution.

    Or something like that.

Fair enough. The latest chapter. 1218 universe I know nothing about, is there some crusade curiosity going on or is it a different 1218 and not the 1218 CE/AD in this realm?

  • edited May 2021

The "Prime Universe" is the current storyline kicked off by Wendy and Dunraven. Everything before that is the 1218 Universe storyline which began in 2012.

The actual logic between thousands of players transferring universes is... hazy.
