Most players do something wrong mainly because chances that they get their head chopped for it are low.

About minimum age, I believe Ingress is rated as PEGI 5 in Europe, but there are so many 13 y/o playing this game nowadays... xD

In the Apple app store, Ingress Prime is rated:

    Age Rating: 9+

    Infrequent/Mild Cartoon or Fantasy Violence

    Infrequent/Mild Profanity of Crude Humour

    Infrequent/Mild Mature/Suggestive Themes

    Infrequent/Mild Horror/Fear Themes

which basically means, "we blow things up" and "comms is unfiltered" and "space aliens are or are not out to get us"

It is clarifying somebody else's comment about "minimum age" with facts about "minimum age".

  • my experience is that underage kids either do not start cheating or stop immeadiately after being pat on palm. but. only one serious but - the community should be strictly negative on cheating. that's sufficient. no "backpacks", account sharing, etc.

however - there is still no answer from NIA about things mentioned earlyer.

  • I'm seeing quite a few stories here about players who've had multiple accounts banned "for no reason."

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but isn't there something in the policy about not having multiple accounts?

  • I believe that you're told to make a new account after getting permabanned

  • player - one account.

players wife (who is a player herself) - another account. separate device. any kind of "proof" avialable.

players kid (who may be underage, or may be in his late teen) - also - proovable.

who is "having multiple accounts" in this situation ? basically - more than 1 person per household, and you're on the edge of loosing this game vs NIA.

"Over my years playing, the only ones I ever see come back are the ones who actually were cheating, because they know they can get away with it for awhile before they get caught. "

Surprisingly, this is not a surprise...at all.

  • hello here i have received an email that my ingress account rating is canceled so that you will not suffer my violence related to portal nominations and rating and that you will terminate my ingress account i will continue to apply. I would state in my defense that they recently hacked my gmail account and that they asked me to permanently delete my ingress account and I didn't ask for it and luckily I saw that mail and reacted so that it didn't work for them. a quarter to troll, insult them, etc### Do not reply below this line ###Niantic SupportNovember 28, 2019, 16:31 +0100Agent,

We've received your request via the Help Center for your Ingress account to be deleted. If you did not submit this request, don't worry: we won't process this request until we hear back from you confirming that you'd like us to take action.

If you do intend to delete your Ingress account, please note: Having your Ingress account deleted is NOT equivalent to an account reset. If we delete your profile, you will not be able to play Ingress anymore with this email address and your codename may not be available to reuse. All data associated with your account will be completely and permanently deleted.

If you're sure you'd like to completely and permanently delete your Ingress account, please reply to this email with the word DELETE so that we can process your request.Marko perišićNovember 28, 2019, 16:31 +0100Hi, I would like to get my profile removed. The game itself became boring. Thank you very much niantic. I'm sticking to pocket monsters. From Niantic Support.Conversation ID: #5171350,Ibtold thembthatbis not may mail andvthat is not true.

  • since i don't play by the rules of spufer group from my city they constantly report me, they also hacked my mail in order to ask for cancellation of my account so when i reacted to mail they did not cancel my account and now they blocked me from evaluating davtrolamvs with my applications in my neighborhood , everything goes through them because there are more of them and they mock people, they cheat in ingress and then you who play regularly get bans

  • I don't think they hacked your email account. You do not request an account deletion via email, you only confirm it via email.

However, if you feel your email has been compromised, change your password and enable 2-factor authentication to secure it. Also check your account settings to log out of all instances.

  • I heard about people doing this for GuildWars 2 from the YouTube channel Overlord Gaming. I assume you got the idea from there? I'd like to see this happen with something like Ingress with a false ban just to see how it plays out. I would ask for a data dump of my data but I'm not from the EU.

  • I was banned yesterday. I’ve never cheated. I abhor it. I appealed and it took Niantic all of two hours to reject it and ban me completely. I’m a good player - L16 in under a year.

@Xlxao I feel like you do - hurt, ashamed and distressed. I can’t do anything about it so it seems

I won’t be making a new account. I will no longer play pogo. And live knowing how many actual cheats get away with this nonsense.

  • @Spect8tr It would be nice if I could believe a comment like that from you. I hope you mean it.

This stuff is so sad to read, and part of the reason I quit. So many players cheat, and cheat openly, and do so to feel superior, are not punished, and feel emboldened to continue as a result.

Meanwhile, good people are pushed out, quit, or banned for...existing, communities become toxic, and more people quit.

i contributed a lot in my area, and had fun playing for a while; until I realized how many people spoof openly, play with multiple accounts, and act like jerks because your strategy means nothing to someone who can be anywhere at any time.

im halfway expecting to log in one day and see I’ve been banned.

  • I bet a lot (not all...) of these legit players that got banned got reported by multiple bots either because they tried to do something to the spoofer/bot operator like reporting them or calling them out etc. and Niantics system just bans without looking at the data if the ban reason is correct.

I mean like what reasons are there available to report someone? To spoof? To talk smack in comm? To **** someone and endanger other players etc.?

All these reasons can be and should be verified upon someone requesting an appeal and HIGH PRIORITY to those accounts that are old and/or have high level. Like seriously Niantic you're just killing your own game further with such **** support. :(

  • Contrary to popular belief, mass reporting has absolutely no effect on the decision by Ops to ban an account. Ops does their own investigation and will reach their own conclusions.

And the apparent age or level of an account will also not affect an appeal. They are reviewed on the merit of their case.

  • Proof? Their word? Let's face it....if they TRULY did the investigation on these cases then they would see that a lot of these people are not cheaters and their detection system is SHITE. I mean...cheaters spoof all over the world and don't get banned but these legit players do? I get that a lot of cheaters "try" to say "oh I was legit 100%, please believe me guys" but not EVERY one of them can be right?

Not to mention that they don't clarify the reason someone got banned and also the post I've read on here or reddit that someone got banned by accident after reaching for support and still to this day he didn't get his account back....like WHAT THE HECK??

Sorry but something just doesn't click right here....they seriously need to revise their core system because things like that shouldn't be happening and should be ironed out ASAP #1 priority before they start trying to add features to make this game look pretty and try to bring it back to it's glorious days.

There was a quote I remember from my childhood and I'm not sure of the origin but it talks about how when a tree is growing that first it needs to grow roots for stability and strength before it starts growing beautiful leaves and starts blossoming so it's not knocked down with a simple breeze. It looks like Niantic is trying to do the opposite first.

  • "... very little chance that so many people would try to play on innocence while being guilty" - based on what? The belief that - in a game with little or no penalty for lying about being innocent and where no one can prove that you're guilty but Niantic (and Niantic currently refuse to spell out the reasons for it, let alone provide evidence) - people will admit guilt?

That is - there is little or no reason to tell the truth (you remain suspended/banned, people lose their trust in you), and lying can only benefit you (you get your account back, people lose trust in Niantic).

I'm not saying that everyone who says they're innocent is innocent, nor that everyone that Niantic bans is guilty. But I would really want to see some reasoning behind this assumption of yours.

When phone dies, and you move on to new phone, how smoothly does that transition go for you?

  • "It's too easy for players that have cheated to claim innocence and hide behind the non-disclosure."

What a miracle! Coming across this thread randomly to find out that one of the agents that I've reported a while ago for using 3rd party apps has been playing the innocent card in this thread. The perfect example for @Azhreia 's mention.

Even though I had enough evidence I got the generic response back, then but I'm wondering what were the actions taken against this guy.

I still have some of the evidence, but I'm not sure if I should disclose it here or in private with a NIA mod. I don't want it to backfire if, for whatever reason, this guy decides to go after me. But it would serve as a good example.

Mass reporting does exist. However, reporting en-masse has no effect on the decision of Ops to take action or not. If anything, it slows things down as they have to review each and every report.

This isn't just an assumption. Niantic has stated this themselves on several occasions.
