Capsule name on key inventory display
in General
When you bring up your key inventory on the intel map it tells you which keys you have in which capsules. But it displays the original capsule name - something like "4E863B07" - and not the meaningful or memorable name you may have given it. Somethng like "blue" or "local".
This current original naming is really not very useful and I would really like to see the user-created names used instead.

@ofer2 made this comment:
about getting Capsule names into the Inventory display. Basically, it's possible, but I don't know if its a high priority right now.
Ok, but the existing system is essentially useless as almost nobody will have the system generated capsule names memorised.
It's telling you that you have the key in a capsule but that you will need to look in all of them to find it.
Current system is usefull if you organize all your stuff in capsules: re-naming allows you to find stuff faster.
Another possible use can be taking notes of some agent name you don't want to forget about ;)
I'm afraid you may be missing my point
You can now see your inventory on Intel (though this may be a CORE benefit - I can't remember)
When you see the list you are given the system generated capsule name, not the meaningful name you may have used.
See screenshot.
This is not very useful.
It is a C.O.R.E. benefit yes.
As I believe it’s been explained elsewhere, the capsule, locker, etc custom names we can add are all locally stored on your device, not the Ingress Game Servers. Unless Niantic is willing to continually pull and update the customized names for each CORE subscriber (which would be a lot of programming, storage, and other additional overhead) then this won’t be resolved anytime soon.
there are some plugins for a certain Intel Map adjuster (I’ll let you guess what that is) that helps with this, but requires you to manually put in the capsule and locker name relations (example D54GLEA = Red Locker). This would be another aspect Niantic could adopt, instead of pulling data from the Scanners we can just input the names into the Intel Map ourselves.
are all locally stored on your device
Just a correction here. They're stored in "client data" on the servers. If you open the client on a different device, you will see the same names still. They're just not stored with the normal inventory data on the servers. So they are accessible server side, but it may take a bit of mashing to get them to work together (which ofer2 may or may not be able to do).
Yes, I read the link from Perringalden.
Niantic said it would be difficult but would depend on demand.
Well I, for one, would like to see it.
And, as it's promoted as something which is provided to paying players, I think it should be implemented in such a way to make it attractive. At the moment it's not very useful.
You don't have to look in all the capsules. When you click one, its hex code appears so you can check then. It's annoying, but it's not impossible or useless.
Ok. That's fair.
I'll take back "useless" and replace it with "exceptionally user unfriendly".
