Suggestion - Add a way for agents to spend lots of their gear.
I love to farm items. For me, the game is all about the grind. I love glyph hacking and seeing those level 7 and level 8 resos and XMP bursters in my inventory.
However, I did the equivalent of getting to level 100 in a JRPG. That is, my inventory has only the gear that I want. Any additional hacks I do, regardless of the level of the portal being hacked, results in me discarding almost everything I receive.
But, the Kinetic capsule gave me an idea: Could agents have a way of "spending" gear that they get and would otherwise throw away? This would be the equivalent of an inventory "remort" where the agent would lose a bunch of their items, but would gain something in return. Say, spending 100 level 8 XMP bursters for an item. The item need not affect gameplay. Maybe it would look cool but does nothing. Or, it could be a badge like the Simulacrum badge, which only displays near your name and does nothing else.
That way, instead of throwing away all my items to begin the chase again (which I've thought of doing,) I can spend those items towards something story / aesthetically / gameplay related.

I have a fairly well crafted inventory for the first 2000 slots. The new space the subscription gave me, allows me to hack, recycle what I hack, and then recharge the portals that I'm hacking. I actually come out net positive in terms of gear and cubes, which means I can recharge more than just the portals I hack, without losing anything, and over time I'm building up lots of the far harder gear like flipcards and VR hack items. Recycling for XM is a pretty effective way to 'throw away' gear for a useful goal.
I agree with you. Something related to this was discussed earlier (I can't find the link), it was like adding a personalized cap for each category level that would allow people to hack and get the AP and glyph points but not getting more L8 XMP if their personal cap setting is already full in the inventory, so you wouldn't have to care about recycling them.
Regarding your specific proposal, I would love to be able to get old media in exchange for 100 resonators or a similar recipe, even if the media obtained is randomized.
And both options could coexist without being a nuisance for people that already have a well crafted inventory, so everyone could chose the option they find more useful for their gameplay style.
Instead of a capsule an alternative is to add a new (glyph)hack that doesn't return any gear, but only counts the hack, the glyph points, and unique visit to save time on farming animation and occasional inventory management when you're riding on a bus through town.

This would be good for missions and uniques too. Hack No Key is what I currently use, but the gear still builds up.
They could add a ”farmingmode” so you could choose wich item to save. For example ti save all vr-items and rare shields, but to discard all the rest inlcuding resos, common shields and powercubes. Or to discard all weapons below lvl8.
But I hope for a faction inside the faction, or some really fun event, where we can really use are potential both as team and individuals.

Clearly, you are not taking care of that many portals ;) try to maintain 1k+ and you may be open to:
They should increase XM per recyceled item, at least 3x.

But it would be nice to be able to like compromize pc, tex 10 pc1 to 1 pc8 or something.
I always recycle all pc below 8, it takes forever to use them when fielding och ****.
