Rewards for win checkpoints

jontebulajontebula ✭✭✭✭✭

Please relese news for win checkpoints and cycle. I hope we can win items or completely new special item/items. We can win more items or sometimes if we have or pay for C.O.R.E

I feel we need news about create big fields and MUs in Ingress Prime.

I think more agents like to play for large fields if we win special items we only can get if we win checkpoints and cycle. Say we can get somthing to for 1.2.3 on list we see if click on score.

I think more like to play and spend money on fule for win and get rewards on large fields and MuS.

@jontebula Do you think it's fair that in many places one faction would win every septicycle's rewards? Does it seem reasonable to set up a system where many players have no chance of ever winning? I think what would happen is that the dominant faction in an area would become more dominant and the other one would lose even more motivation. That doesn't feel like a good outcome to me.

I don't know how many big fields you've planned and executed, but I've done many. Not counting the bug field in my stats I've thrown over 75 million MU, and I have rarely closed a large field that I didn't plan myself to a large degree... that includes solo covers of medium-sized cities and one major metropolitan area in the US, and a few that covered a major metro area with only about three people involved. I've also been in support roles (clearing, intel, key placement) for many more. I state this not to brag, but to give you perspective on where **** from.

Septicycles have never motivated me to plan or execute a large field. I've always treated them like art projects-- the reward comes from finding an elegant design and making it happen.

If the other faction dont like it they must go to the location or more new agents start on the other faction for balance or the other faction must play harder. I think reward can get more play and better balance.

@jontebula I'm curious about where you live and which faction, if any, dominates the scoring. I'm guessing it's not somewhere like Salt Lake City, which is essentially under a permabaf. I'm guessing you've also never lived in an area where a big field couldn't be taken down because two of the anchors were closed and the third one required a difficult hike and a satellite phone.

  • how do you make zero MU fields? I always get at least 1MU, even when I make a field from 3 portals which are in a perfectly straight line. Are zero MU fields good for anything?

  • liyu1liyu1 ✭✭✭

with zero fields , i think she means null fields. u can use it too in field art if u dont want to have a filled coloured triangle but only wants to have a border (for the shape)

  • liyu1liyu1 ✭✭✭

and u can make it by linking in the wrong order on purpose and ada certain portal(s)

The idea of cell scoring being based on the change from the previous cycle's end is a great idea and would really bring balance to the game. Yes, it's been mentioned before, but it's worth bringing it up again.

I do agree there should be rewards, but I suggested there was a reward for winners but boost for lovers, for example, winners get extra gear from hacking for the cycle or double ap. While the losing team should get bossts like extra damage from busters, mor mu for their fields, double ap for fielding, whatever. Im sure people coukd come up with ways to make it fair

I'd rather take a badge than gear, and for septi involvement rather than wins. Gear is something that can be gained from frackers, etc.

Wins alone wouldn't help encourage the kind of gameplay needed for Ingress to be sustainable. And a win can be pulled off by 2-3 non-local agents too.

And before even getting to any kind of reward, the septi scoring parameters need to be widened to more things. Especially ones that encourage daily local activity.

Some good points were raised on https://community.ingress.com/en/discussion/12633/whats-the-point-in-winning-cycles

I want official high scores for every stats, no need to be in-app, just in webmode, but more ways to influence the scoreboad besides MU is very welcome, like number of captures.

For the rewards, I think a badge for winning the year is a good goal. It could award one point at each cycle or one badge every year for the winning faction. I think the ranked badge is easier to do, awarding one point for every cycle the agent appears on the top 50 (or top10) of a winning cycle (any cell). Gold could be 50 points, since that's a year of consecutive winning.

This will certainly change the dynamic in some cells, where everyone is bored since winning a cycle is meaningless.

Another minor rewards could be changing the XM color to the same of the winning faction in that cell.

I like these ideas, but unless they change the scoring to reflect new work rather than standing fields, some players will always be locked out. I remember seeing a gloating post on G+ from some team who had won their cycle for three years straight. Looking at the map I could see that there were almost no players for the other team in the entire cell!

A change in scoring, and adding of rewards such as a badge, coloured XM, etc, would do much to level the playing field, increase competition and get a lot of players out and playing.

I actually think it would be cool if two things happened with regard to this:

#1: Create a separate leaderboard for MU destruction, since that contributes to the scoring just as much as MU creation

#2: Give awards not to the whole faction but to the top N scorers for both creation and destruction for each septicycle

What should the awards be? I'd recommend something cool but not game-changing, like maybe some beacons or temporary profile flair.

Related to #1: Smashers are under-recognized in Ingress in general... there are several badges for creation but only one for destruction. As Hosette-the-destroyer I am sure I am being 100% objective when I say this. (-:

I'm liking the idea of a tiered badge with getting a tick for winning per cell each cycle. I live in a city near the corner of a cell and we only compete for the cell we're in. We've never worked to win neighboring cells. It would be nice to get 2 ticks if you're on the leaderboard and win the cycle in 2 cells. Throwers for BAFs could score 5-10 ticks in one go.

It could also encourage vets to plan BAFs that n00bs could throw to get n00bs to onyx, similar to Illuminator.

  • We've discussed this before, but I think that it would work better if instead of rewarding the raw score the winner was based on the delta from the previous septicycle.

I'm a big fan of this one, but it needs to be balanced with regions where there's almost no players. Imagine losing a septicycle, because you fielded everything at the end of the last cycle, and now you're waiting for it to decay, and someone on the other side of the cell builds a 5MU field.

I want official high scores for every stats, no need to be in-app, just in webmode, but more ways to influence the scoreboad besides MU is very welcome, like number of captures.

While I don't think "every stat", this is what my vote would go for. A wider array of stats to do with building and destroying, even recharging, that combine for a "how many competitions did you win" style of leaderboard. Putting it on a web interface would also present a great way for people to really 'gamify' the experience.

You might not even need 'in game rewards' at that point, as people would be able to compete doing the things they enjoy.

However on the rewards topic, the rewards would definitely have to be well balanced to avoid a 'runaway leader' effect, by giving the winner of the previous cycle enough of a boost that they can't be defeated.

Things like "Increased resonator output" or "Double XM from ground scatter."

I Afmgree that there should be something more for destroying than just purifier (which, depending where you play, can be bloody impossible to get platinum in). Like, you could get one for mu freed (give a 3rd of whatbthe field destroyed was worth, minimum 1 mu obviously) and maybe links destroyed in general

Getting a Field up or taking down for cp or at a time that will make/miss cp is critical in my box for overall victory.

So a win each week boon for the winning team would be interesting to play for. What would be an appropriate reward? I think it depends on the box and number of agents that contributed at least one field to a box.

Like we can get somthing about reward and if we recursion we get better rewards.

Hope @NianticBrian can relese it to beta test and vanguard can test and write if they like rewards.
