C.O.R.E. is 10% cheaper on Android in the UK
The C.O.R.E. FAQ explains that the "subscription is priced at $4.99 USD per month, or your local currency equivalent, inclusive of taxes and fees, determined by your digital distribution service (Google Play or the App Store)."
Well, it seems those distribution platforms convert currencies very differently. Here in the UK we are seeing £4.49 on Android devices and £4.99 on iOS - literally a 10% difference.
I'm not criticising Niantic here, as this is out of their hands... but if you are outside the USA and have the option to check both platforms and choose which one you use, you could save quite a bit of money. I'll certainly be digging an old tablet out of the drawer when it comes to renewing for next month.
Edit: Thanks @Pangarban for spotting my typo, now fixed.

Just to add a bit more info: At today's exchange rate $4.99 is £3.62, so the exact equivalent price would be £4.34 (including V.A.T., the UK sales tax).
Please read the FAQ posted with the official announcement. It does explain possible price differences.
The FAQ that I literally quoted right there in my post?
Ah my bad
It's a 10% difference, not 20%. But it is very helpful that you brought this to people's attention, those who have an option can choose the cheaper version.
Also, if you're planning to dig out an old android tablet to switch your subscription to the Google version, you'll need to cancel your subscription on Apple first, from what I understand.
Thanks, have fixed it.
We were investigating a different pricing-related issue with the C.O.R.E. subscription price in Brazil, and identified an error with the pricing templates used on Google Play Store across all international currencies. We have since made a correction, and there's more info here:
