Thank you for all your feedback and questions on the announcement post last week. We compiled some of the top FAQs and added them to the Help Center and also here:
Awesome that keys in capsules are also counted! But no new feature without a bit criticism: It would be awesome to have the keys clickable so you can jump directly to the portal on intel.
We're also working to update the Intel Map INVENTORY output so that Portal Keys that aren't in a Key Locker or Capsule return a "None" field to make it easy for copy-and-pasting into other formats or sheets.
Direct links to portals via keys would be helpful. As well as key count on map itself.
In the offers section, first it's declared that "Subscribers will receive 2,500 CMU every month" and then "In addition, the subscription will also provide 1 exclusive Loadout kit every month" and 2500 CMU are listed in the loadout kit.
@NianticBrian the total monthly CMUs are 2500 or 2500+(2500 in the loadout kit)?
First of all, thanks for the hard work on the unique caps and visits on Intel and the new C.O.R.E. sub. Fantastic addition to the game and really excited to get out there and collect more uniques.
I was very excited after the C.O.R.E. Subscription announcement and I might still sub for one month to test it out, but I think there have been choices made that will turn some folks off. I know that for me, the forced inclusion of 4 APEX and 1 Battle Beacon are nearly enough to make me completely pass on getting a subscription. I think it would be better to just grant a CMU balance each month and let the player choose how to spend it. Choosing for them, especially items that can't be recycled, is a bit obtuse.
Here's my reason: I have hit level 16, then recursed and hit level 16 again. Aside from earning some bling for doing it, there is no material reward to having recursed and there is no reason for me to do it again. I can just as easily play and explore without my AP going toward a next level up. Field kits aren't that important to me that I need to level to get them. I completely understand that for a lot of players, leveling up is a big motivator and likely drives in game sales, but forcing APEX as a means to encourage recursion/leveling more is not the way to go about it. There needs to be a material incentive for recursion itself. Then players will want the APEX. For example, each recursion could earn a talent point that could be spent on something to make a player more powerful, etc.
Until such time that there is value in recursion beyond just doing it for the sake of doing it, making us fill our inventory with a battle beacon and 4 APEX each month that cost us money and then can't be recycled and take 2 hours to be able to get rid of (4x30 mins) is a little rough.
Please make an adjustment to the monthly kit so that it does not force items that can't be recycled and that are likely unwanted by many, specifically remove the APEX and Battle Beacon. It would be better to make the CMU grant higher and reduce the predetermined items imo. Failing that, at least make the APEX and Battle Beacons recyclable.
Again, thank you for the hard work in building these new capabilities. It has been a boon to Ingress community engagement over the last few days. It is obvious from the chats I'm in that this has rekindled interest in a lot of players and I am happy to see life coming back to a relatively dead community in the wake of these new announcements.
Can we have keys displayed in a format that's easy to export into lat longs.
Or just an export button. Edit: i.e. CSV or JSON. Something useful for intel operators.
Yeah I'd take some Jarvis & ADA over Apex any day. I don't play for APs. It's the same for most agents.
I recently recursed for the first time a week or so ago, so I know I'll end up using them, otherwise they wouldn't be much use, especially since they take up bag space.
@NianticBrian shouldn't the codename flairs be updated on scout controllers too?
The CMU grant for this first month is 7,000 CMU total. In the future, this will return to its normal 2,500 CMU amount total.
We'd really like Agents to try out the C.O.R.E. subscription and give us early feedback on how we can continue to improve upon it. One way to look at the offering for this first month is like this:
Thank you for checking out the subscription and for sharing your suggestions on how we can make it better.
I am very excited to see Niantic not just bringing in one of the more frequently-suggested options for monetizing the game, but executing successfully and implementing a couple of the more-requested wish list items.
* Enhancements to Intel (so close to data/API access!)
* Inventory expansion!
Well done, guys. This is very nice to see. I've stuck to my previous commitments and have already subscribed.
for "As C.O.R.E. subscribers, Agents will be taking an active role in helping support Ingress. Currently a work in progress, subscribers will soon have access to Fast Track of spoofing-related escalations via Ingress Settings > Help Center > Go > Contact Us."
can you share more infos ?
We're expanding the Fast Track user support to C.O.R.E. members but needed some additional time to set up the right Contact Us flow from the Ingress app. We know that improving how we combat abuse or spoofing in the game is critical, and we're working on this.
Good, thank you @NianticBrian
I rarely to never leave comments in this forum, but was asked to share my opinion by a member of my local community.
Thank you for the recent updates, developments, and what seems like increased interactions with the community. I hope C.O.R.E. sustains Niantic/Ingress and it is nice to see a path to get some money to game development, but for casual players, it may not be much of an incentive to contribute. Personally, I'm more willing to throw the random few (to many) dollars intermittently at a game than a constant per monthly fee. I will likely try it out: I'll take my inventory space and let my key hoarding tendencies run rampant for a month or two. I am also looking forward to the Intel map updates/upgrades.
However, the pessimistic side of me feels like this isn’t too useful for increasing the player base or player interaction in areas where gameplay is already unbalanced by the “haves” vs. “have nots”. Of course, this update isn't directly a response to any "gameplay issues" and I know people get trolled for this kind of opinion all the time, but my goal for playing a game is for all sides to have fun and to have a chance at winning or achieving some sort of partial victory. Giving more inventory space to those that already have what can seem like unlimited access to gear isn't going to help those areas where one team has been consistently incredibly dominant.
I have tried repeatedly to subscribe but always came out scanner connection error please try again later :(
Force quitting and restarting the app fixed this for me.
@martinsys are you on Android or iOS, and what version of Ingress are you running? Have you ever seen a Scanner Communications Error when purchasing anything from the Ingress Store in the past? Lastly, can you share a screenshot of what happens after you click Continue on the Subscription Details prompt? Do you see a prompt from Google Play or App Store?
I have 6€ in Opinion Rewards, so I guess that's a free medal and a free trial subscription for me :)
I'll go for it, but I don't think I will keep it for next months.
Thanks but of course I’ve tried that so so many times as well :( even change from iPhone , IPad, etc.
@NianticBrian excuse me why I at L16 didn't get a Battle Beacon for the subscription but recursed people did? I feel cheated.
Edit: seems like I should've read the announcement before throwing my money into monitor the very second I heard it's in the store. ****.
Now, @NianticBrian, about those $10/month for 1000 slots, and $20/month for 2000 slots tiers :-)
Love the current subscription, but MOAR PLEASE!
I'm actually with you on this. I'm more intrigued with Niantic creating ways for me to actually enjoy the game and "create" gameplay. In regards to the subscription, nothing has been added that will change gameplay (for me). The portal indicators will though, thank you.
And since it seems absurd to post a complaint without some sort of proposal or wish....
Would love to see the Ingress team create mini-events that are similar to what PoGo is doing. PS I know there is a pandemic going on, it isn't stopping PoGo and it shouldn't be stopping us. Hear me out...
I live in an area with a curfew or I'm a high-risk person. Niantic should be able to create a "ticket" that you can purchase now that you can use whenever you're in a better position to enjoy the event. Maybe that's next week or next year. As long as you purchase the "ticket" for the event, you can play along at your leisure.
These events would still earn a badge/medal for your profile. They would cost the same as the other holiday medals being released right now. And, if Niantic wanted, they could layer a global goal on top of it since I'm assuming most agents would probably do the event right away.
Example: Valentines Event. These could either be a set of tiered tasks or just a set of tasks with one reward, the medal.
With tiers. You could do something like Walk 5km, Make 10 Control Fields, Gain 50 Glyph Hack Points. Earn 10 L8 XMP. Next Tier, Walk 5km, Do 5 Drone Hacks, Deploy 10 Mods. Earn 10 L8 Cubes. Etc, etc, etc.
Without tiers. Same stuff, do a bunch of different things and maybe the global goal is something like, 250,000 global glyph points. Everyone still gets a badge, at their leisure, but if we do end up working together well enough, maybe we get some bonus.
Anyways, just a slightly off-topic suggestion I'd love to see, that speaks to me, that would still generate income because I'm not likely to continue with my subscription after the first month. I'd rather spend $3 on something that motivates me to play, because I'm definitely not motivated right now. (That's a lie, the portal indicators has me chasing uniques all over town now. I can't believe how many I've missed)
Are we going to see an update to the basic Intel map? I am only noting the UI around it where it still mentions the Ingress Report. Some items are very outdated on there.
Just making sure because some people are confused about it: When you end the renewal of the subscription, you'll still keep the medal, as opposed to what the Play Store shows, correct @NianticBrian?
Correct, you keep the C.O.R.E. Medal on your Agent Profile. Google is pulling this info from the subscription description that explains what you get when you subscribe, but our FAQ confirms this info here:
@NianticBrian is the intel map inventory rate limited?
I opened it a few times and now get "No inventory available"
