Lack of social mechanics and the absolute similarity of agents in the game.

There is an agent, he can do everything himself, and capture the portal, and demolish the portal, and build fields ... As a rule, an ordinary agent does not need other agents for the game. Unless only he lives alone in a big city with a bunch of rivals. In my city, the situation is such that there is no point in recruiting new agents, since almost everything that needs to be done can be done by yourself.

But what if there were functions that would require multiple agents in one place at the same time? I didn't mean building a level 8 portal. I mean something new that would force both old and new agents to leave the house (after the end of the pandemic). There is a great idea with Magnus. Why not do something like clans of agents, or communities of a different type that could interact on a completely different level? At least so that agents from Magnus have their own chat that cannot be read by any opponent who has both blue and green accounts. why not make different types of agents based on archetypes? And add unique features to each archetype? And finally, to make sure that certain archetypes could interact with each other on a special level ??? Or add different types of portals that could be activated exclusively by several agents?

In many cities, the game would revive, a set of new recruits would be made and, accordingly, the income would go to the game developers. So why not make new social mechanics that will further strengthen the community?

And tell me why not structure each faction by introducing ranks, social roles such as regional coordinators (which can be chosen by the agents themselves from the region). As for me, it would be very cool if certain aspects of the faction were not regulated by Niantic but by the users themselves. So that the faction has its own leaders among active players, so that they can build social interaction within the scanner themselves and not use third-party applications?

Catan has a interesting "neighborhood" division system. That would fit well to ingress.

  • I agree. Ingress needs something new. Sadly many people don't like "new stuff". That's why I play alone....

If I understand correctly, then many players are not interested in new features in the game?

I think he means in scanner community stuff other than faction COMM?

I like the idea, I am unsure that the scanner is the best place for it when we have Telegram, Slack, Discord or whatever.

If you mean, specialists in the game, like easier to smash, or more hack output, more links or whatever depending on possibly recursed benefits? I like.

Err those country sized fields don't build them selfs...

Nor do the major star bursts....

  • New features - It depends on what the feature is. "New features are good" is not an absolute statement.

But your argument is that Niantic can create new features to generate a community. That's the statement that's not true. Niantic can create features that attract new players. Niantic can create features that will give people a reason or even a need to work together (they already have, FYI).

What this will not do is create a community in a given area. That's on us. If your community is small, Niantic can help by padding out extra numbers, but they can't organize people or lead people themselves. If your community is toxic, Niantic is not going to fix it. If your community is cheating, and you don't report it, Niantic can't catch them. If your community is just generally non-existent, they're not going to be able to hand hold every single region globally to be 'better humans'.
