Restart the game.
Have done so repeatedly. Still white, not purple.
Quick glyph hack the nearest portal to summon @NianticBrian. 📳
What are your thoughts on the XM being white rather than purple? Good or bad idea?
It's yellow. It looks like snow that someone peed on.
I'd prefer to go back to the far less intrusive purple.
Just checked again and it looks white to me, the same as during the event period. There isn't any other thing that might be altering your display by any chance?
Still white lol they forgot push a button?
Nemesis came back and infiltrated the portal network again. Just so our XM color doesn’t change back 🤣
It's looked that way since the start of the event.
It's your screen protector, yellowing with age 😋
@Perringaiden could you share an image of what you are seeing please?
The thread I linked has a screen shot of it:
Yellow snow.
The XM itself looks white to me /shrug
Compare.
I'm not sure if it's just people have less chromatic acuity, but that 'snow' is yellow. Ignore the core where the light is brightest. All bright light tends towards white. Look at the edges.
Close up view.
Remember, this is what it looks like when it's "purple". The core is still pretty white, but the edges are purple. So when you say "white", the edges are yellowed currently, instead of purple.
We're going to leave XM as it is now, at least until the Portal History feature launches on the Scanner. The purple rings around Visited Portals are easier to see with white XM, and we'll revisit after we go live and are able to gather more feedback. The XM itself is set to white, but there's a glow or tint that currently affects its white balance.
So with you referring to the app as a "Scanner" that implies that you will be returning the audio and visual effects of the XM pulse back into the game.
Looking forward to those effects coming back.
🤦♂️
Lol! I've been glyph hacking. It isn't working 😆
Whoops should have refreshed. Hes up there lol
He didn't mention anything about any of that. He talks only about XM. I feel like this is why Brian is hesitant to talk about much of anything because people "imply" things... Or am I missing something here?
For reference regarding the "original color of XM"
At some point, it would be real nice if the color of the XM was the same as the color of the portal that creates it.
And before anyone jumps on that, I am referring to portal level, and the color of the resonators on it, not the faction that owns it.
Level 1 stuff is yellow, a level 1 portal is technically yellow, and the xm could be yellow. And on up the gradient.
In an area with just one portal, you'd have all the xm the same color, in an area with several portals you'd have a really cool mixing of colors as the XM farthest from their generating portals all mixed on the scanner.
Maybe the key is phone model, not the eyes.
@NianticBrian wouldn't it be better if the rings where shown around the unvisited portals, and removed after we capture then (just like it is on pokemon go). Of course I didn't saw it yet, so I'm just guessing. Seem easier to spot the not yet captured that way.
The same color shift is visible on a PC too. It's a real color shift.
”purple rings around visited portals”? Can we get the inverse so unvisited portals have a purple ring? Seems like having that ring in visited portals will add more noise to the scanner and clutter it up in the areas we regularly play. I'm not complaining though, however this feature is implemented, THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!
When you say "purple rings around visited portals" does that mean that there will be markers around portals we already visited rather than around portals we haven't visited yet?
That would really be a bad idea. It's really not interesting to see all the portals we have already visited marked as such. The interesting portals are the ones we haven't visited. So, if this feature goes live in the scanner, it should have special markings for the portals we have never visited not the other way around. A lot less clutter on the screen. I want to be able to immediately spot the odd portal that will give me another unique visit. That's by the way also how it works in Pokémon Go and it's the only version that makes sense in my option.
(Same should actually also apply to the Intel map: Mark non-visited portals rather then already visited portals)
Though feint, I do see the yellow in this. We can be crazy together xD
Like some folks before me, i believe that unvisited, uncaptured portals should have the diferent color.
Makes it a lot easier to spot 1 diferent coloured ring among many neutral than 1 neutral colour between a lot of purple ring portals (talking about few missed/new portal in dense/clusted areas)
And in general i think that having the mark for not interacted portals makes more sense...you could also have more than 1 colour.
Example:
Pink - never interacted
Purple - visited but not captured
No ring - captured/visited
@NianticBrian if the XM pulse effects do not return, then you will need to find some other Lore terminology other than, Scanner.
As for XM colour remaining white.
While this doesn't affect me, it is causing issues on a number of devices, Android and iOS where there is too much aliasing which has meant those players in my community are already having difficulty what is XM and whatis a neutral portal
