Would you sacrifice all new features since Prime release for playing on new servers now?

  • More responses to the Bug Reports and updating their status may have something of an effect too. Even if it's a recognition that it's an issue, or simply "Working as Intended".

But as you said on another thread, having a person dedicated to this sort of constant update, takes away from having a person dedicated to actually doing the work.

Thank you so much for your responses! I understand how the implementation of subscriptions has been messy for all of the reasons you mentioned, but the community response still seems to be mostly positive even after 6 months, especially when the reasoning for the delays is communicated and your team gives a peek behind the curtain on the status of the update/feature.

Giving us a taste of what you're working on (when it's a feature we want) encourages us to throw more money at our screens, even (and maybe especially) when you run into trouble developing those features so we can give you more resources to solve those problems faster. I may be in the minority with this last point, but I know loads agents in this same boat. Many thanks to you and your team for your hard work! (We just want to hear about it a bit more often)

something tells me that the subscription will be popular no more than battle beacons. and a person with a subscription will be as rare as a person who regularly sets up battle beacons.

  • I have never bought a battle beacon. I will be subscribing the moment it's available.

The $5 price already has me uninterested, though, we still don't know what will be gained by being a member, so I won't say no for sure. I honestly don't think there is anything I'd be keen on paying $5 a month for, unfortunately. I'd pay $5 to do some of the old medals that I missed out on. I know that would send the OG gatekeepers insane, but oh well.

  • Only in Ingress is this a thing by people obsessed with the game.

I would gladly pay $5/month just for the fun that Ingress has given me over the years. $5 for a few hundred extra storage slots is a slam dunk for me.

I would pay Niantic $50 one time to get rid of the character badge on my profile. I got tricked into it at an anomaly and I hate it... my personal tastes are that I want my badges to be accomplishments rather than shiny objects. (Seriously, if any person at Niantic can make this happen let me know and I will donate $100 to the charity of your choice just to get the Stella badge off of my profile.)

  • I'd prefer character and anomaly badges to be in a separate section like missions, now that they already pulled Anomaly badges out of order.

I'd pay $5 a month if Niantic gave a news update once a month on where we were going and what's happening :)

Most of us spend $5 in gas going around playing ingress in a day. $60 for the year is the price of an A-list new video game. They'll have to make it worth my while to keep subscribing. A significant inventory increase (3000 total?) would be my biggest desire. a couple hundred won't cut it. Some sort of AP modifier wouldn't be bad, but we do have apex for those already. Maybe they should just dump CMU into players' balance monthly too.

I guess being willing to spend $1800 a year for the fuel to play a game, but baulking at paying the developers of that game $60 a year... makes sense to someone?

Personally I'd prefer to pay money to the developers, and take a day off here and there, than complain when they want to get paid for the work they do.

I have already sent, some time ago, to Dominik CM for a Catan, recommendations to curb the cheating that is happening via the RWP for Pokémon GO, Wizards Unite and Catan, because the last thing we Ingress players want is even more cheating than what we already have now.

Also my own experience between all these games is the RWP communication is extremely laggy when compared to Ingress, this is be because the RWP adds a lot more data to the communication stream, often requrring >1s to complete.

So right now, subscriptions, if that is what it takes to get Ingress to be what it was 2 years ago in terms of events and momentum. Then sure.
