Ways for Ingress to use weather?
in General
The other main Niantic games use the weather (and Wizards Unite even uses moon phases) to influence certain things happening in the game.
Would you like to see weather influence Ingress in future? Foggy weather bringing more Power Cubes from hacks? Drone able to fly double distance in Clear conditions, or have a chance of breaking down in rainy weather for example?
Just a few thoughts whilst the other apps reminded me it was hazardous weather when I opened them.

I don't think that's a good idea, Ingress is more an "adult" game, we should know already when to go out or not. On top of that, is there a relationship with the lore? I mean, weather implementation is complex in this case.
I hate the constant weather notifications in Pokemon Go and Wizards does it all right - although both will have an adverse effect when the weather is too bad (rightly so, but not always accurate).Ingress should just be its own thing and doesn't need to borrow everything from the other games.
Like Neku69 said, I don't think there's any real relation to it lore-wise. It's supposed to be a scanner, it scans for XM, not a portable weather station.
How Ingress uses weather: We actually go outside and have to decide what to wear, whether we need an umbrella or a hat, and "Do I really need to maintain my Sojourner in this weather?".
Ingress lack features to be influenced by weather. What could it be? Extra AP, link length, drop rate? What reasons would that things change based on weather?
I thought that in a heatwave there could be an xm drought, but, would you go to play outside in that kind of conditions?
Could do it the other way round, bad weather = less xm, good weather is more ..... but honestly I dont see any reason to have weather in the game
Another technology hurdle that if this were a no tech game then yes do it.
Otherwise faster decay when temperature is less than 0C or more than 30C would be a different spin on the game. Probably not the best idea to do.
@Mirthmaker That's actually an interesting idea, though you would wind up with areas that had either fast decay or slow decay for months at a time.
It would be hella crazy while in other parts decay would stop the game to stagnation
Rather than weather, how about astronomical phenomenon. That's got to have a better lore connect. Pretty sure we've even had a badge on 1st Jan about one of those.
Like if it's raining meteors, it should rain ultrastrikes.
Lol.
If it did that, that would be the excuse why the whole realm turned gray.
I laughed a lot when I saw this, but I'd rather hear argumentations instead. How would you apply s10-s11 cells for weather on ingress? https://pokemongohub.net/post/article/comprehensive-guide-s2-cells-pokemon-go/
Not weather, but time, like decreasing link lenght and AP made after 21h and before 6am.
And like it was said about:bad weather = bad rewards.
Using weather and time to help maintaining a fair and health play.
There was an AP boost during the solar eclipse of August 2017. It's the only one I can remember, though.
