double r8 wont solve anything if its gonna be another year no events etc that give badge, in 1 month its been 1 year we had a global challenge, are those ever coming back? what happend doing trekker and mission challenges niantic talked about last summer? more ppl will just get bored and stop play.... we need some news to look forward new year new things do focus on.. niantic is too silent which isnt good .
Yeah let's remove entire cities of portals, or, to the contrary, very hard to reach portals which weren't needed, just because no one has visited them in ONE month. What the...
Agree almost 100%! Trekker and drone global challenges seem like no brainers. A mission challenge might be tougher as it could encourage people to travel more, but pairing it with a drone challenge could solve many of those issues. Resos destroyed/deployed or total glyph hack points (NOT uniques) could be good as well as they don't encourage distance travel to go unique hunting.
Perhaps decode challenges could be given (similar to the Tessellation) that grant passcodes with 1,000s/10,000s of redeems with LOADS of resos or bursters so people aren't forced outside to farm gear forever for these destroy/deploy challenges and factions are encouraged to quickly solve and distribute passcodes amongst themselves, leading to more coordination/community building.
There are soooo many options for safe(er) competitive global challenges, yet once again, Niantic's inability to communicate is killing this game. @NianticBrian does a great IUENG AMA, then goes silent for months except for a *few* obscure forum posts.
Something to encourage big, beyond individual and individual box play. What will engage from the comfort of home?
Throw plot/lore into the hands of individual agents. What will a recursed agent do if they have to do something for the greatest good instead of just themselves or their scoring box?
-Actual communication from Niantic, not these random posts in the forums that are vague as hell and don't actually answer anything. Believe it or not, you can actually talk about things that are still on the drawing board. You can actually get feedback from your community and rather than us beta testing ideas, in game, you can do some of that work here in the forums before spending actual dev time on something you hope we'll like.
-Unique portal marking. I know this isn't an easy thing to develop, but I think it might be more important than Niantic thinks. Even down to its relation with Scout Controller/scanning.
-Would love to see some global events, with badges. Pretty bored with the game currently. I get there is a pandemic going on. But I'm sure Niantic can look at the data and see that people are still playing. Of course there is a few agents who get on here and cry they can't play, I'd love to look at how much those agents are playing though, I bet we'd see they're still out playing, just want to play some pity party in public...
Virtual Events - Global solo challenges, 'Missions in your neighborhood' days, and other things that generate activity without congregation.
Communication about the future and Ingress' direction.
Subscriptions - Shut up and take our money.
Return "X joined the Enlightened" to Client Faction COMM and Intel faction COMM and move the First portal/First link/First Field to Client Faction COMM too.
- chase users who cheat by hacking the gps. recommend not to use rooted phones.
Niantic currently does not allow anyone to play Ingress Prime if the phone is Jailbroken or Rooted. If the rooted phone fakes not being rooted, well enough to pass SafetyNet or the iPhone equivalent, Niantic can't tell that it's rooted and prevent play.
- Global/regional MU scores are nice but I'd like to see more things that could contribute to the "score" instead of just "MUs" to keep things more interesting and to keep the competition aspect active for competitive players.
- Global challenges that reward an in game badge (there should be ways to have smaller events that could be done perhaps using drones in the midst of a pandemic). Perhaps add a platinum tier to those (if not Onyx) to keep things more interesting for those who wish to overachieve.
- I thought the Tessellation was an excellent event to get a lot of folks interested in decoding and/or the lore. I'd like to see more competitive faction vs faction Tessellation like decoding events. I believe the Tessellation was an excellent example of how adding a medal incentive could significantly boost participation (the Tessellation topic threads went from a couple hundred posts during the early rounds to several thousand posts).
I think the last one was removed coz of privacy issues. But at the same time I think the way this output is displayed on Intel or Comms can be managed. Eg. Reposition every new joinee message to the center of the Cell.
Unique Markers on portals. Ofer2 said this is possible but will take a lot of effort to fix the way that interactions were coded. Not impossible but a challenge.
I’d happily pay £10 (the equivalent of what I paid for the 5 lockers) to help cover the cost of the development time and for the luxury.
It would certainly encourage scanning if you can see what portals you haven’t yet had Scout Controller on.
Expansion of the Kinetic Capsule. We all have different uses for kit. Kit has no value barring the supply and demand of agents etc. but we can all agree that VR hack mods aren’t equivalent in value to a VR Shield. Some balancing on the KCap would be great and an expansion of the recipes as well.
Some may be very against this, but I would like to see in the store “limited use KCaps”, like incubators in PoGo. Is it P2W? Meh-ish? I see it as just speeding up the process and helping make the game more financially viable.
Monthly Character Badges in the Store. Personally, I’m not a fan of the character badges / medals, but there are plenty of pipes who do like them, and it’s another source of income for existing art assets.
Improved Avatar Customisation. Having more options than just a yellow arrow are great, some agents rock the NL Van or the Toast. The 4 Archetypes were a nice add, and very satisfying to look at. IIRC, there are 13 Archetypes, so the other 9 could be some agents’ favourite colour or preference, again this is another “project” that can add additional revenue.
A Successful Subscription Launch. Really should have put this first, whenever the subscription does come, I just want it to work from the get-go. This could be a real turning point for the long term viability of Ingress, and I want it to go as well as possible for Niantic.
New / Expanded things I’d love to see eventually
Mods. Mods are one of my favourite things about portals, and one that Pokémon Go is seriously behind Ingress in.
Ultra Rare mods, or at least a shield, exist. it would be great to have this powerful kit, balanced by rarity. Imagine a UR Multi Hack that gives +16 hacks before burnout or a UR Heat Sink that gives -85% hacking cooldown. Nothing especially OP but something new to freshen up gameplay.
-A Mod that slows down the decay rate of the portal that it’s on. This may be controversial, probably whether you recharge PITA portals or are the one hiking to take them out.
Glyphs. Another thing that Ingress does so well and something I’d totally count as another language. More glyphs allows for more sequences to be formed, like when we had: Shield, Star, Link, Field recently, that made glyphing feel fresh and interesting that I had more words to learn.
-Challenge Mode. Since hitting 200k Glyph Points, (Onyx x4) complexing P8s is just the norm and offers a reduced challenge. What about a mode of Glyphing, like simple / complex but the portal gave you the words instead of the visual glyphs, and you would glyph as usual. This could be very rewarding to those who have engaged with the glyphs and know their translations, rather than “Hat, Spaceship, C, L, Line, Pants” etc.
-A “High Bonus Enabled” glyph. I read on the wiki about this, that a hack could randomly, at a very low chance” give an excess of items if the sequence was completed in full, but nothing if a glyph was missed. This could be a fun bonus to help encourage good Glyphing and make the game more fun and dynamic with some surprises.
That’s only a handful of ideas, I love hearing other people’s ideas, hopefully someone from Niantic is taking note of people’s suggestions and feedback.
Regarding the Avatars, the problem becomes that the more you have, the less people buy an individual one, and the cost to develop it starts to outweigh the profit from it. And if you're only making a small profit from the work, it doesn't cover monthly running costs like salaries and server time beyond the initial work. That was the problem with Key Lockers originally.

Wishlist:
No double 8s. Unneeded.
Q4 in person FS. Bureaucrats have work to do.
Something to encourage big, beyond individual and individual box play. What will engage from the comfort of home?
Throw plot/lore into the hands of individual agents. What will a recursed agent do if they have to do something for the greatest good instead of just themselves or their scoring box?
IMO double r8 cause wholes neighborhood being full lv8 with 4 shields, making it impossible to be beaten alone, making the game incredible boring.
Given we're discussing how to generate community, you're actually arguing for it by saying that one person can't play alone...
Unique marks on portals.
Portal captures / ownership to count towards Septi scores.

Third faction? Too late?

It was inconvenient for their original format and never came back.
