Why is the plot dialogue in the scanner different from the plot?
I thought for a long time where to write, here or in the story section on this forum. According to the plot, then we have defeated exogenous creatures. We've all heard this more than once. But ... In the scanner, dialogues about shapers, in the process of course learning the basics of the game. Jarvis and ADA constantly mention shapers. Further, shapers and nzirs are mentioned in glyphs ...
Dear experts on this interesting game, explain why there are such differences between the storyline and the scanner?

Why do we see stars in the sky if they're all exploded billions of year ago?
Because for one, all the dialog is voiced and getting Jarvis and ADA into the recording booth during the pandemic would be hard and potentially costly, and for second, it's work that is just not a priority. Rather then fix the tutorial which otherwise works perfectly, I'd rather see them fix some bugs. And who knows, maybe the Exogerous will break through the Tessellation again, then the tutorial is on point again.
But this is against the rules! If the exogenous were defeated, then it should at least somehow be displayed in the scanner! What kind of ........ people are these developers! The same voices could be recorded remotely. Better yet, use a voice generating program for both artificial intelligence.
The only voices you hear in the game are Jarvis (Green P8s) and ADA everywhere else.
ADA does not have an incentive to let you think that you are safe.
Light travels at 186,400 miles (300,000 km) per second.
The distance used for stars is in the units of AU which 1 AU is 150 million kilometers, approximately the distance from Earth to the Sun. Even the light from the Sun takes a bit over 8 minutes to reach us.
Alpha Centauri, the closest star (besides the Sun) to Earth, is 4.22 light years away. If we had a device that could travel the speed of light, it would take 4.22 years just to reach it! That's about 277,438 times longer than the Sun to put into perspective.
The fact that the Shapers and N’Zeer are repelled from our Node doesn’t mean they aren’t gone or forgotten. As plenty of people have pointed out elsewhere, the moment we forget history, we are doomed to repeat it.
Also, the part about ADA and Jarvis in the portals. Those tidbits are from audio files, videos, etc from the past. The voices of Jarvis is actually 1218 Jarvis, parts of his Manifesto and other things are what consists of the Jarvis voices on the ENL L8 portals. So it’s not that they aren’t part of the story, actually the opposite is true. They WERE part of the story, from the past, and so far it looks like no other Patterns (or parts of Patterns) stored in the XM substrate have surfaced yet.
aaaaaaand now, breaking the 4th wall, the voices, on boarding tidbits, etc ARE NOT TOP PRIORITY. Yes those facets could use an update, but as Brian Rose said they have a very small team. There’s plenty of other things that require more immediate attention. The story, while not the most important, is a much bigger part of the Ingress community currently than the voices in the portals. Features, bug fixes, and other development are prioritized above recording the audio, splicing it into clips, changing the files and things in the testing environment, actually TESTING those new voice files, and finally pushing those files out in an update.
TL;DR: The Ingress team has bigger Exogenous to fry than changing which Jarvis tries to convince us to join his cult.
This game has a plot? I thought I was just making triangles?
For the sake of what? Mathematical research?
The tutorial gives some basic plot but honestly it doesn’t hugely affect the gameplay. I’d like it if the plot and lore were a little more “front and centre” and if it were easier to catch up but I guess it doesn’t matter as I said.
Smash blue portals, deploy resonators, and link them all together. Now with some walking for Kinetic capsules. Straightforward.
You forgot that you need to deploy mods to alter portal behaviour, farm keys to create controlled areas, memorize glyph messages to get more items, participate in global events to get medals, scan and control portals to increase the game's database, complete special in-game missions, submit your own portal and mission proposals, buy merch to increase inventory space, travel around to add to your visited portal count and use your drone to hack. And that's only if you want to level up. No joke.
The higher levels in the game require you to unlock and upgrade multiple medals to level up. You can't do that only creating fields.
The reason plot is given to you little by little, like a puzzle is because the game is all about secrecy: Glyph hack patterns contain coded messages, Media files give you access to the game secret history and events, and classified reports inform you to the new developments and upcoming items. Secret threats. Secret missions. Secret events. Secret, secret, secret. That's the reason why players are called "agents" and why is not easy to get all the plot in a single, easy to digest manner. The entire idea is the app itself is "a secret project".
Says the guy with an avatar from the Ingress Anime. 😂
Wait...you mean that’s not Seto Kaiba?
