Not just for low-end phones, but for battery life and performance on high end phones too. My iPhone X gets almost painfully hot after 20 minutes of recharging portals, and interactions slow down massively as the phone throttles down for thermal safety - which puts me off buying Apexes to use when recharging.
We're aware of these issues and have already added some fixes to help improve this situation. That being said, we are aware that there is additional room for improvement and while we dont have any plans currently to do this right now, we will definitely aware and thinking about it.
@Hosette beat me to it, but I wanted to say thank you for your replies and insights into Niantic and some of the things that go into the development of Ingress, @ofer2
At the risk of derailing this into a love-in... your posts are always very helpful and informative, @ofer2 and your replies here very much appreciated!
The redacted client did this as well with hiding the actual connection behind animations. You wouldn't notice the difference until you hit low data service areas when you can see your avatar glowing where it's pending any action you gave.
Ingress Prime has the same data, and more, behind these animations.
I can only speculate what those might be.
If we could see the difference in what Classic and Prime did in the background, it would show that Niantic have fixed a LOT of issues that plagued Ingress Classic since it's inception.
There are still a myriad of new issues to sort out.
FWIW, Ingress in whatever manner it has been is still more enjoyable than GO, Wizards Unite and CWE, for me.

You don't understand difference between new servers and new codebase on RWP, do you?

Came here to say the same. It's really refreshing to see your posts here. Thank you.
I agree. Thanks for your comments. @ofer2
And it was fun to have you on our Vegas anomaly team. 😀
Keep up the great work!

Back-end servers are 100% complete now and we run 100% on Niantic new cheap servers or system? @NianticBrian
@jontebula we are on the low cost servers with the google cloud.
This helps to keep the costs down as there isn't the need for expensive servers for 10 million concurrent players anymore.
Niantic have done their part to keep the development of Ingress going, now we have to do our part with subscriptions or in-app purchases
How did you know? Niantic or @NianticBrian never say they are done with the Back-end and move to new servers 100%
Niantic have stated so on this very thread
there still is a need for servers that are not crashing or lagging to the oint of rendering the game unplayable each week.
monthly subscription if you're enable to play would be bad
Would pay subscription for animation/lite mode where we can lose most graphics and optional load photos.
Based on the now removed teardown notes, I would think the new servers aren’t far off as there’s the Kinetic Capsule coming.
Fair enough. I'll raise this with some of the others and see what we can do.
It looks like this at least, has been addressed in the latest build. 👍
