At most this will discourage others from playing, tank their funding, and make the game worse for the rest of us. I don't see how this helps at all. Please let me know what I'm missing :)

Seems like I’m in the first group, have had COMMS access back but no Intel Map as yet. Hopefully you can you work on getting it fully restored in the next few days.
I’m not sure you are missing it. Niantic has not communicated well with what’s going on and this weekend is unlikely to be any different. Why would I want others to play games made by this company? Ingress is lacking support and Pokémon Go has so many glitches (graphics alone) it’s unacceptable.
also why is it in both games all serious players keep the audio on mute?

Can we require the data causing the strike using GDPR?
Not sure if bringing GDPR into this issue is helpful. I was thinking of pointing IT / gaming websites to this topic.
At the moment I just stopped playing until all this is sorted. In the worst case I‘ll not continue to play even though it would be sad. But how can I be sure not again receiving a strike... Installing iOS 15 next year?
I have almost decided I will quit if niantic will keep on to the strike. Not sure I will be able to follow through though but I am definitely heartbroken.
I have created a turf-group for my local Enl-community and we are already 12 players. (Out of something like 20 active players) Well played niantic.
I did send in a GDPR request for all data regarding my account from 1st of September until today's date. If I do decide to quit it would be interesting with a total dump as well.
I can understand people’s frustrations. It seems like iOS 14 was just dropped to be live before developers had a full heads up, as several apps scrambled to make sure updates were ready.
So whilst Niantic should shoulder some blame for their lack of response & unclear messaging and app not carrying any warning/notice when redirected there by the Intel map, I guess they shouldn’t have all of it.
I would note, that when Pokémon GO had issues related to iOS 14, every player had a free box of items available. I don’t expect it to happen in Ingress as it’s not generating nearly as much revenue for Niantic but some kind of “We screwed up, have a free item/passcode” thing would be nice for those affected.
So, any update? Surely it doesn't take this long to verify if there has been some error in restoring access. (Sure, it might not be resolved right away, but we're still kind of waiting for verification we did nothing wrong.)
Waiting over the weekend isn't helping at all.
Can @NianticBrian tell all agent if Niantic reset all strikes to 0 and no agents dont get real strike on accout when Niantic do wrong with Prime update for IOS 14?
This. I am fine waiting for a fix if I just know my strike is gone.
I hope niantic clears this up, no innocent agent should accept a strike for something they didnt deserve, niantic owes apology to all those.

Hi,all. I can access intel w/ iitc all of a sudden at this moment. Maybe, Niantic take an action about this hiccup. I hope all of agents who affected intel banned event can use intel map w/ iitc again. In addition, this remedy should be a permanent action not temporary rolled back.

Seems it’s being slowly rolled out. Maybe from when agents first tried to access Intel following iOS14 update.
Made appeal, got reply, got confirmation of cheat, appealed again, no reply yet.
Sorry about that. But I hope Niantic do their job soon.
As an agent who has forked over quite some money to NIA over the years for medals/events/swag i'm quite dissapointed to be left hanging when things go wrong this way.
Leaving us in limbo over the weekend without a resolution in a realtime 24/7 played game is not ok and no fun.
I guess i'll just have to stop spending money on the game as I don't feel taken seriously as paying customer.
