Drone Hack Permanently Burnt Out

I've camped my drone on a portal for more than a month now and the portal still gives me the burnt out message when I try to drone hack it.
Is this intended?
I was under the assumption that the burnout would reset in some hours.

No after 1 hack its burned out u must recall it or move it to other portal and then back u can hack again. So if u have more then 1 portal in range u can jump between them once every hour. There is no timeline for drones if its burned out its that until u move it.
