Disable COVID-19 bonuses?

  • The decay is just killing me here. I would play more, even if just recharging, if I had something to do... I am with everyone that says change the rate of decay at least, keep the rest for now.

If you are relying on the decay in order to play the game then your problem is not the decay rate, it's lack of opposition. Train up some opposite-faction players.

If you are relying on the decay in order to get points from recharging, then the 5% decay rate doesn't harm you at all - you can still recharge every portal every day and get the points.

I have plenty of opposition, but they don't come because they know it will give me more AP.

I'm always overloaded with items now, having to recycle every kind of them, including xmp and mods, because have nowhere to use.

This decay is just slowly killing the will of playing, and probably stimulating people to go out their comfort zone (also risking themselves)

it does more harm then good, decay is too easy to recharge now u have more stuff over then what u need and u dont get much ap recharge only 5% decay.. also vr mods feels useless until they throw off the bonus.... nobody wants wait 3 weeks in dead areas..

  • The decay rate suffocating the game. If the goal is to slow the game down so much people won't play, then I would say its on target. It really sucks building a nice layered field over an area and then waiting for 3 weeks to get to do it again. Not to mention all the random links around town team mates thrown with no plan at all that block off prime fielding areas.

In my area we just don't have enough opposition to clear these.

@NianticBrian no timeline for disabling yet?

@ofer2 maybe you've got some insights on when it's going to be over?

  • Removal of the decay, while keeping the increased hacking and deploy in place, would allow people who can play to get more done.

And really, by this stage, if you can't get out and hack, your portals have all decayed anyway, because you ran out of gear.

We need the decay set back to normal. Waiting 3 weeks for something to hopefully decay is mind numbing...and only causes me to play other games more frequently than Ingress...

Actually @NianticBrian if you can't turn the decay back to normal, can you at least up the amount of flip cards (ADA & Jarvis) that are dropped, so we can **** stuff, so we can field again, or at least clear the dang derps easier than waiting forever and hoping for decay?

But on the flip side, it's a great way to break the addiction...

    Yes, thanks. You?

I've made a few million AP by recharging since the pandemic started, but for me personally there is no sign of my routine returning to pre-pandemic normality - in other words I am still stuck at home most of the time. I have a couple of hundred portals to keep charged. There's no way I could do it at 15% decay just now, like I used to when I could travel (although I sometimes struggled even then).

Double deploys should remain a permanent game fixture for all recursed agents.

The increased cooldown should remain a permanent fixture of the game for all agents, in order to facilitate faster and more dynamic gameplay.

Decay rates should be set back to normal.

  • CliffMCliffM ✭✭✭✭✭

Not my idea, but you could reset the decay rate back to normal, and just boost the amount of recharging that agents can do. Sort of the same effect, but it allows for areas with little to no opposition to turn over more frequently.

terrible idea imo, game balance should not be broken just because someone recurses.. no way! faster gameplay would mean many mods would be useless.....

I am in 100% agreement with @thesolo . In addition to what was said, I would also like to add, the recursion popup in game itself states and I quote: "An opportunity now lies before you: Simulacra can undergo a process called RECURSION. This will deepen your connection to the XM. It may allow you, in the future to perform sophisticated actions not currently understood."

This could be the perfect opportunity to implement the COVID bonuses of shorter hack intervals and more number of hacks as a reward to recursed agents.

  • I understand why people who are dominant in their cities and strong in number call back for balance where they could work on item denial for other faction, and be dominating in their area. and at same time it kept their position, most ofoposition will leave the game due to lack of items. excelent. that is balance you call for to get back. balance with 4 players creating maximum level of farm is balance. its different then it was with 8 people needed. from my PoV its better.

and yeah, old balance is reason why so "many" new players were willing to stay. when you focus your game around item management, and make obtaining items to play hard, you can check competing games and you can see, that item farming there is easy, and something that you do at time when you actually play the game.

  • I agree to the facts that mods are still useful. But I wish recursed agents dont get to keep the double deploy aspect. In a place where both factions are balanced this is quite a fine feature and recursed agents have earned it. But in a city (for example, where I play) we face 10 : 1 Res to ENL player ratio (I mean actively playing agents). In such a case the remaining ENL players who are trying to level up and do some stuff will be outclassed very quickly and they might lose motivation to play the game. As it is, it is very hard to convince someone to join such a game. The dominant faction will always have more access to high level gear making their game play much more easier. I could be wrong and this could be a niche thing. But surely recursed agents could get other bonuses such as: more hacks per portal, or higher frequency of VR items.

Recursed agents should get bonuses for their dedication and hard work, but not something which would just raise one faction to complete dominance in certain areas.

This slow decay makes me go outside MORE, for a longer period of time and much further away than with a normal decay. Why? Because I can't play around town for the next 21 days... so i have to move & i'm sure that wasn't the point of this "bonus".

  • HydracyanHydracyan ✭✭✭✭✭

Shhh... Niantic secretly want us to spread the virus even more in a wider area, by manipulating our addicted minds in order to force us to leave our comfort zones and go out in new places. What's is Niantic project?

  • MirthmakerMirthmaker ✭✭✭✭

It forces more action. Re: more hacking, more trips to portals etc. There are places that will be ok, others a hard no.

  • Would have to be nice to stop all temporary changes instead of just " some " :/

Somebody wants decay, let them decide. I don't want, because now i should try to farm more PC.

Somebody agree that 16 hacks are a bit too much and provoke people play more not less. I agree that this feature should be off.

About speed of hacking,i enjoy that and actually this is good decision to have less time between hacks,to spend less time in potentially dangerous place.

And double deploy,i think it was bad decision from the beginning.

  • HydracyanHydracyan ✭✭✭✭✭

I would suggest changing double deploy of lv8 to 3x lv7 resonators. This is already enough to a single player create a p6 and for two to make a p7, while still needing 8 to a p8.
