Drone travel distance inconsistent
Samsung galaxy s10e Android 10
Ingress version 2.50.1-caeeffc4
Issue only noticed today, July 6.
Please see attached screenshot for detail.
I started noticing the issue from when I left portal 1 to go to portal 2. When I got to portal 2, I wasn't able to see where I came from (portal 1). I then proceeded to move on to portal 3. Moved on to portal 4 (since I wasn't really checking Intel then) and got stuck. So I went back to portal 2. I got there and can no longer see portal 1 and 4. Now I'm stuck in these 3 portals (2, 3, 4) unless I recall the drone.
Portal 2: 14.324804, 121.040507
Portal 4: 14.319444, 121.040277
Edited to add proof
Tried uploading a screen record but I can't.

happened again today
starting portal: https://intel.ingress.com/intel?ll=14.517036,121.030159&z=17&pll=14.519692,121.029099
ending portal: https://intel.ingress.com/intel?ll=14.517036,121.030159&z=17&pll=14.515058,121.031396
Moved from starting to end. Checked back on where the starting portal was and it wasn't visible.
Tried restarting the game and also rebooting the phone and it's still not visible.
Don't quote me on what the exact conditions are, but Ingress loads all portals of S2 cells within a certain radius. That sometimes means that you can see Portal B from A, but not A from B. There is a plugin for IITC that shows you exactly which portals you can get too. See the pictures attached, Portal B is still within the cell radius, bit Portal A is just out of range. Note how the cell portal B is in is also just in the radius for the cell to actually load
So not necessarily a bug, but just how the scanner deals with portal loading
oh that makes a lot of sense if that's the case. kinda annoying though. Thanks for the explanation 😊
