It's pretty and I want it forever
Please! It looks way better then the normal XM. Maybe it can be added as a client side switch? Maybe as a possible reward for subscribers?
Great idea, different XM Colors to Buy in the Shop.
I also enjoy the colors, as well. I vote it stays!!
Side Rant: I just wish niantic would make up its mind as to how bright XM on the map should be. I haven’t enjoyed it’s bipolar transitions from invisible to looking like 100 portals and then back to invisible again. Dynamic lighting only helps so much :/
That would actually be something I'd spent a few euros on, just like the avatars.
I think that energy should be black, not rainbow. BlackLivesMatter!!! ;)
Yes, changing color of XM would be a very good product in the store and, as my friends almost unanimously told me, it would sell well. A part is even ready to pay for it right now. So, Niantic, please take note of this ))
If we can get a rainbow skin for the XM in the store, I WILL buy it.
There may be a little visual problem though. Prehaps an avatar instead?
I don't like it,because it's another forced thing which cannot be turned off. But generally it looks pretty enough - and this should be nice idea to give that rainbow-styled-look-XM as an paid thing in store, just like NL van for example. I don't know how much should it cost, and i don't know can it be implemented to client-side not server-side pushing.
I like it quite well and would probably kick a couple of bucks your way for it. Lacking that, just go with a visible color that doesn't blend into the background. The dark screen is hard enough to see.
XM stand for Exotic Matter, not Black Matter. Being volative and random is part of the lore.
It looked better last year. I think the size was smaller back them, and now is super bright.
Please get rid of it, it is KILLING performance on older devices (which was not very good in the first place and this change worsened it).
No amount of virtue signaling is worth ruining the experience for players.
Performance issues is an understandable reason to dislike it.
However, I have to disagree with the "virtue signalling". Niantic is being inclusive and that's a good thing.
Actually, how would you make the difference between genuinely supporting pride month and virtue signalling?
I'm against this staying. Waiting for usual XM in 13 days. Putting it to the store would be a good option btw.
Being inclusive is propaganda? Being inclusive is disrespectful of other nations, their laws and cultures?
Social tolerance is sh1t?
I would sell a rainbow colored avatar on the play store and donate the proceeds +matched amount to a lbgt charity.
Can we keep it please? Pretty please? 🙏
I'd pay money for it to stay on my scanner.
How to get rid of this shitty rainbow? Can I disable it somehow? I can pay.
It's just an event unfortunately.
I note people’s comments in favour however the colours create a problem for those of who do missions. It is virtually impossible to see the orange brackets around the next portal on the mission particularly when the portal is close to the range limit on the scanner. You have resort to loading the map which is not easy in areas with a weak data signal. The answer would be of course to change the way the mission portals are highlighted.
There are so many contrast issues with XM as bright colours. Please, I am happy for the change one month out of the year, for a good cause, but it should not stay that way the other 11 months.
I like the colorful xm (and I think it would be a neat option for an IAP addon) but it is too bright. Perhaps if it could be affected by lighting dynamics, to let us tone it down a little. Only for the reason that it makes portals and ornaments difficult to see, am I ready to go back to the default xm appearance.
@grsmhiker @Perringaiden 2.50.1 dimmed it a little bit so this complaint was addressed
I hope they undim it when we get white back. We only just got it right.
An option to keep it on, or maybe (if they want to make some money) having XM Packs for different colours that you can change when you want.
Have this one be free but then charge for others.
They turned it off now.... buuuuuu looks so boring now..
You must live in a much higher XM area than I do. I never had any issue with the brightness of the colours (and I am very much a mission person). I have to wonder if giving players some sort of "slider" in the game settings to control the brightness of XM as appropriate for their area might not be the best plan. To get it dim enough to be perfect for urban players will likely leave it very dim for rural players - but having it bright enough to be optimal for rural players might be overwhelming for the urban players.
I would love to see blue xm around blue portals and green around green year around.
