  • Maybe Niantic should assign the MAC address of your telephone to your account?

And if you want to check in as a different player there's a cool down period (e.g. Equal to the time of a ADA or a Jarvis)....

And preferably 1 MAC address per user: this way you can't have much use of a mule account either on say a different telephone. But I can see, there might be ways around that problem....

  • I know of a couple playing together as #1 and #2. So there's your counter argument....

  • Meaningful Teamwork consists of turning up for an hour a week at a given location, mashing buttons, and going home...

PoGo might be fun, but it's not what people who enjoy Ingress look for.

Well thats a good question. Where I play, people doesnt seem to care. Some of the players can play open with two acc and when confronted in com, they like : ”stop arguing in com”

there are several players with multaccs, in both teams and also mix fac. One player, two factions.

    its a shame.

niantic does not care at all about cheating.

This guy was fielding into the pere lachaise cemetery in paris by night (closed of course).

And then next day doing mission in Istanbul (because yeah borders are totally not closed)

Report did not do anything, basic bs mail in response.

thats just insane.... doesnt even hide how bad he spoofs? how is this tolerated... ? no wonder many players left for good when spoofers and cheaters in areas can roam free and destroy for legit players... and they wonder about the 3* rating in google appstore?

The fact that their second agent name is their first with a two at the end is just insulting.

The question we should be asking ourselves is not: "Why isn't Niantic going after people who use multiple accounts." Rather, we should ask: "What's the best way to provide evidence Niantic can use?" We cannot take photos or videos without the explicit consent of the offender, which severely limits our ability to report bad actors. Posts on the forums and Reddit seem to suggest mass-reporting is an effective method.

If you managed to get secondary accounts banned in the past, how did you do it?

  • VenomousToadVenomousToad ✭✭✭✭✭

I have caught many players using multiple accounts. There's nothing you can do to get them banned. All you can do is remove them from local groups and not work with them. Allowing them into local groups just encourages more of the behavior and soon everyone is doing it.

  • I guess it depends on what evidence you have against a player, but excluding an person from a group because you think you have evidence (which may be softer than you think) is not fair to the excluded player or the community. Niantic makes the decisions, and we don't have to always agree with them (I know I have certainly disagreed in the past), but it is inappropriate for regular people to try to patch the perceived failings of the actual authority, simply because of disagreement with the official outcome.

@BAFlingFrog I respectfully disagree with that. I think each community and each member of the community should be able to choose who they associate with.

NO honest community will support a player that is caught using more then 1 account, so excluding them from groups is actually good to show what they are doing is wrong against spirit of the game.

By allowing such ppl in your groups it would send a signal 'hey its ok to have multi accs'....

I personally knew the regional leadership that could drive out of the chat for the fact that you talked about the fact that this leadership uses two or more accounts.

  • GreenVamGreenVam ✭✭✭✭✭

Many places have secret chats for coordination. And there are also certain agents who like to fly, put modifiers from two accounts, and so on. If you are against these agents, then in some cities you are simply thrown out of the chat, and beginners are told that you are not a good person and generally work with an opponent.

  • mortuusmortuus ✭✭✭✭✭

okay but i still stand for my opinion in this matter.. now others can share theirs :s

  • The problem arises when the "community leadership" uses individual choice of association to decide who the community can associate with. This is politics, and it has destroyed many good communities.

  • Decent communities will remove or ignore people who cheat. The real problem is often that the "leadership" are the cheats in communities that accept it.

For example because they became "leaders" by playing more than everyone else, and subsequently cheated to maintain that level since it was their only way of claiming leadership.

Or another example is where they couldn't actually organize anything, and so took to cheating to keep up with a more organized opposition.

    Or they're simply trolls.

Don't stand for bad leadership and cheating being endorsed. Make your own team and likely the majority will join you and leave them.

iFS leadership in my area accept all very well know cheater to participate and even award them some prizes. They choose to ignore evidences, or are just afraid of confronting.

If was up to me, people who are know to be cheaters won't be allowed, and removed from the list.

We've recently been struggling with people creating accounts from their opposite factions, just to create links and fields that will then make it costly (flipcards) to remove for known standing fields. They create fields and links and then the accounts vanish for a week, only to rebuild bizarre links and fields that are blatantly placed to act as blockers. That's been pretty frustrating...

  • So, I assume you’re saying that you need to have a resistance and enlightened account to play? If so, that’s not the way to deal with the “problem” you’re having. Try linking the portals to make fields. Try multi layered fields. Try making fan fields. To do this you need to key farm. You need to put hack mods rather than shields on the portals. Start there. Learn more about the game rather than cheating. Please

  • What a cheater !

Few things about linking account to any software\hardware thing.

    1. Android officially supports multiple OS accounts per single phone and multiple email accounts per OS profile so I believe its completely legitimate to have two different players using single phone. For example this is the way I'm playing Pokemon Go with my daughter: just using different account for her. Using one device for two people is ok. The rule is: one account = one person.
    2. Some people use two or more devices for single in-game account (say main phone just discharged) and switch between them. This should be also ok unless you try to login from both devices at same time (this should be impossible).
    3. Devices are cheap so buying the second one for cheating is not a big deal :(

Probably Nia should just collect more personal data to identify people :)

Like that `verified agent` badge they used to have.

But I don't believe this makes sense to them

    Def disagree on that

It most likely is a dupe but many players add a random number to end of a name when game says that name is alr taken

I have an "8" at end of my name, so there are def 7 other players in game before me (I also had to add a Z since without it the 88 was also taken)
