Stop turning Ingress into Pokemon go, destroying the basic mechanics of the game!

From the very beginning of the game, there was a confrontation between agents of resistance and agents of enlightenment. It’s like in chess where two rivals fight each other. Confrontation was the basis of the game.

But there is also a game about Pokémon in which three factions come together to defeat the most powerful Pokémon. And there is almost no confrontation in the game about Pokemon. But ingress is not Pokémon, it is a game based on the battle of irreconcilable opposites. Why did we like early gameplay? Because it was action, every new player made a significant contribution to the defense of his hometown. It was necessary to react to enemy actions instantly, sometimes even in winter, in severe frost, in the middle of the night. The agents of both factions conducted special operations, looked for any chance to grab even at least a piece of the territory, and fought for the victory in the literal sense.

@NianticBrian Remember the basic concept! A competition based on the confrontation between factions is the basis of the game. Destroying confrontation = Destroying the game.

Recently, ingress has become more and more reminiscent of Pokemon go. To solve problems, you have to cooperate, and not compete with the enemy, and more and more often you need to do some in-game actions together. Sometimes you have to hold joint events with your opponent. Cross-fractional shards, and much more, discouraged many of the old players who had been committed to the game for years. Even joint action against the Nemesis completely ruins the principle of the struggle between blue and green.

The players of this game do not need new Pokémon in which it is important that blue and red and yellow cooperate to defeat the next boss. We want a confrontation, a great, noble battle for the fate of the world and our ideals. We don’t need mechanics from Pokemon, many players are sick of apex and similar things and are shivering from the possibility of soon appearing exogenous creatures on every street (as in Pokemon). Ingress has great potential aimed at a serious audience; you should not make a new clone of Pokemon **** out of it. Come up with something else, original and unique. Surprise us and we will repay you with money.

Further! The basic mechanics of the confrontation between the two fractions does not develop. There are no conspiracies, intrigues, support of the spirit of struggle. There are no battles for obtaining new technologies for your faction, there are no turning points in the battle, there is nothing new in the surrounding space. The gameplay is as unchanged as the cardiogram of the deceased or the raid mechanism in Pokémon go. Many old players are tired of the fact that the battle that goes on for years does not bring them anything but a figure in the profile. For them, it makes no sense to fight.

And here, imagine that the fractions will be able to choose from the proposed technologies for winning an anomaly. Or decoding will allow you to get new technologies for your faction. Or let not technology, but something else affecting the mechanics of the game. How it would enliven the game, make people move and develop the community! There would be an incentive to fight for victory and not for another passcode giving 20 guns. And the fractions are basically no different from each other - just like in Pokémon go. A particular faction does not have advantages or disadvantages, there are no features that could be reflected with the help of game mechanics.

I don’t want to touch on the plot and what happens outside the scanner, I’m talking about the specific Destroying of the game, which develops with complete stagnation and destruction of its foundation - the confrontation of two factions.

I agree with the stagnation of gameplay. But I don't see how ingress is becaming alike Pokemon go.

The Nemesis is just another chapter, and it's going to end soon. I'm sure Niantic bis listening the feedback of it. But in normal gameplay, outside the events, I see no change.

Now imagine a pokemon go player who comes into the world of ingress. Or just a player with a play market will go in to play ingress. He does not know that he can convey to the opponent the most important information. For many, all people are friends or comrades who exchange Pokemon and together capture gyms, or just play checkers, chess, dominoes in the same way. The game does not set the player to the fact that he is an agent of a secret organization that FIGHTS for the fate of the world. The game does not say that the enemy can find out secret information from you, which can interfere with the cover, and so on. The game no longer has the atmosphere that was in the first commercials of the old ingress, when everyone became an agent, waiting for secret instructions from senior fellow members ... For a beginner, this is just an incomprehensible game in triangles. 3 pictures + 5 minutes of plot dialogs cannot be called an introduction to the game. Yes, the Prime is beautiful, it’s more functional, but it’s not a secret agent’s tool, this is another game in which you walk among strange blue and green portals (pokestops, hotels and towers).

With that I agreed. But that's not turning into pokemon, is just a poor job at how it's works, leaving open to newcomers understand it wrong.

Funny is that by adding currently "pogo" features might help in differentiate it. Daily tasks and the SOS task force from HPWU (along with registry of files) will be a great addition to Ingress lore.
