Sell the company to who I'd be in 24hrs later.
Re: Make Fielding Great Again!
Regarding GP hunting-
Onyx badges are the top tier and should take significant effort to earn. The mechanism to make getting Guardian hard was simply - other players blowing up your GP.
Yes, it felt good to deny an enemy onyx guardian a day or two before they got it. It made them try again with another more durable portal.
Niantic used to include capture date on the stock Intel map to facilitate this.
Then once that was removed, agents created their own tools to track the ages of these portals. That should not be a shocker.
Re: Make Fielding Great Again!
"We had a lot of agents who played to zero-out opposition"
Yes, this was a toxic playstyle. Sorry other team, you can't play half the game unless you drive out for hours. Honestly it should have been removed much earlier in the game's life. Lots of good people left from lopsided situations, leaving ONLY the "agents who play to zero-out opposition"
I would argue, however, you have more targets to try and zero out now. You can limit your opponents to small 500 meter links, which means they can't build anything of importance. Additionally, it means you have nice densely built targets to farm.
But let's be honest, you're trying to argue for a feature that's not coming back. It was a bad design which had really amplified impacts as the "network effect" of agent population fell.
Re: Make Fielding Great Again!
Salt Lake City used to be a single RES permafield. Now, it's much healthier:
Nobody is stopping you from being able to make your fields again, go ahead!
Re: Bring back key duping! … (JK… but I got your attention!)
=> 1h cooldown on sign out button.
=> not human glyph mod : faster than complex, always give at least 1 key if 100 correct and speed bonus also give more items not just ap. Gives no items if any error & redo button disabled.
=> support photo to invalid poi report.
=> all poi on map when nominating like in pogo not just ingress portals.
=> remove the useless 20m rules between portals
Re: What would be your plan to get new players to play the game, and stay playing it?
Please look at the first 2 years of Ingress, what it had.
This is what made people excited to start and keep playing Ingress.
Today, we have less than half that.
To encourage new players to take up and stick with the game, a mammoth amount of money and time needs to be spent.
Even a monthly YouTube Ingress Report to return would make a huge difference.
It was self advertising that required not much effort.
Probably quitting after this.
I've just been told by Niantic that I am not allowed to capture a portal because it's CAL level is too high. The last time I had this problem, all I had to do was ask first and the restrictions were removed. Since I wasn't false banned for spo00fing after clearly they knew I was legit.
I'm not linking the portal for opsec reasons. There are 2 about a mile from it that are currently closed off. But the one I asked to capture you can literally drive up to. I linked to that one and gave the name of it to support. I planned to field over the ones I couldn't access using this portal and others on roads to stop the enemy from using them.
Today I'm told that I can't capture it and I have to play for an arbitrary amount of time in order to do so. They're literally asking me to wait a random amount of time, drive 2 hours and spend the gas just to find out if I'm not allowed to access them.
Im just glad Niantic didn't get a penny of the money I wasted on the signal booster, and that I cancelled my CORE before it could renew tomorrow. Between this and my area being unplayable, I'm saying goodbye to this game. Even if they say I can access the portal I can no longer trust them. The one escape from the utter hell that is my life has been removed. I'm literally disabled, can't work a regular job and likely never going to turn 35. Of course I have free time to drive to these far away locations.
Re: Bring back key duping! … (JK… but I got your attention!)
Create an AP gained leaderboard in addition to the current leaderboard. This will give players that don't care about mu something else to strive for. Not everyone cares about fielding.
Option to hide "nearby portal" pop-ups
I strongly dislike the huge pop-ups that show nearby portals when there isn't a portal immediately visible in the map. I liked Prime before it imported this feature, but now that it's in Prime also, I hate it again. It actually makes it harder for me to orient myself if I've looked away and suddenly these pop-ups are covering the map. It's also feels a little condescending when I'm at home, like, I'm AWARE of what portals are nearby, and I'll soon be aware if anything's new, I don't need a constant reminder.
Also, if I've gone to a completely new area, the "nearby" portals it shows are often the closest portals of the keys I have on hand, not actual nearby portals.
