Re: Machina is just killing player engagement.
I love the assumption that you think everyone has the time and stock to do so. Reality looks a bit different.
Are all those portals accessible or within burster range? Do you also realise that Machina just comes back after you've been through there and within a few day it will look like that again?
Players don't want to have to fight an entity that can go anywhere, has keys to everything and unlimited inventory. It is not fun.
Re: Machina experiment has turned ingress into "Petrol vs Bots"
Game enhancement idea: Allow drones to remove machina from portals. After your drone has been on a machina portal for one hour you have the option to release a virus that severs machina's connection and neutralizes the portal without removing your drone.
Re: Machina experiment has turned ingress into "Petrol vs Bots"
My point being I prefer to play against humans. I can (try to) guess their motives, their patterns of work, their dedication, their geography ... etc.
With machina its pure Lotto, and /dev/random is my enemy. Then I might as well play some couch-potato PC singleplayer game instead of this wonderful location-based multiplayer game.
Machina experiment has turned ingress into "Petrol vs Bots"
While I welcome experiments to the Ingress game mechanics, keeping the game alive and kicking, some changes are killing the soul of ingress.
Current machina installation is one of these failed experiments.
Personally I see ingress as a "explore, build, field" GPS game. And a field is the finest outcome of your ingame work, no matter the size. And before machina, the opponent you were fighting in your quest for fields, was other players. Sometimes yourself doing a bad link, sometimes players from own faction, blocking a field you planned, but primarily the other faction, blocking, ****, fielding. But alway other people, which led to the social game ingress evolved to.
The only "score" in ingress has alway been MU score in your cell, where you could measure your faction against the other faction
Now came machina. First experiment rendered cities, even countries unplayable, and Niantic wisely rebooted, invented new mechanics (no crosslinks etc) and this is the machina we are facing at the moment.
In my area of play (Which is Copenhagen, capital area of Denmark) and my spheres of interest (Denmark, southern Sweden) fielding have becom almost impossible. Machina i taking over. Casual fielding, small MU and big MU... has become a "petrol vs bot" game, where you need hours of repeated travel to clean machina, and it is now virtual impossible to do clearing longer than 10km before machina has re-blocked. And fighting local faction is now a game of leaving portale grey, so machina can do crazy blocking 24/7 (normal agents work, eat, sleep, machina doesnt).
I have lost the ingress feeling of playing against other players. I do my ingress on bike, and I cannot keep up against machina and do casual fielding on my daily commute any more. We also stopped doing big coordinated MU OPS that brought faction together, because machina kills hours of preparation with crazy linking 24/7.
Please Niantic. Lets try a new iteration on machina. Machina in its current version is overpowered, and agents are tired playing against bots.
Kind regards

Button for scan missing with updating of Ingress
I have a Motorola G60s, as per today data is compatible con ARCore services from Google. Today I did an update of Ingress from Play Store and surprise: the button for scan portal is missing in the new version . There is not any help about how activate this button. Can NIA wrote about this? Or is necessary to purchase a more advanced phone?
Re: This is the worst year of Ingress
For the record I didn't post this thread, so there must be other frustrated players out there demanding that niantic do better.
April 2023 Second Sunday
April 2023 Second Sunday
Easter Second Sunday dawned bright and sunny for much of the UK. Agents from all over the world in the Second Sunday TG chat group shared their stories and some truly amazing photographs of places visited, missions completed, medals earned and experiences of the day. There was a sense of shared experience as well as some trouble-****.
Stats
Within the group 53 agents (28 RES and 25 ENL) engaged in friendly competition, uploading stats to the bot created by DhrMekmek. These agents walked 545 km and completed 508 unique missions, earning 12M AP and recharging 40 million XM. 153 kinetic capsules were completed.
RES 28 Agents, 5,052,576 AP, 23,934,448 XM Recharged, 270 km, 268 unique missions
ENL 25 Agents, 6,907,887 AP, 16,136,506 XM Recharged, 275 km, 240 unique missions
Total 53 Agents, 11,960,463 AP, 40,070,954 XM Recharged, 545 km, 508 unique missions
21 agents finished more than the minimum of six missions for the badge increment and agents explored new places, with 866 unique portals visited.
We look forward to next month’s Second Sunday and thank all the mission creators for their contributions.

When logging in, ingress crashes. I tried clearing all cache, restarting, turning off wifi, and reinstalling; it still crashes when logging in.

Re: Dear Niantic, this game is dead.
Okay so I read your comment and now I'm thinking, if machina isn't for new players, who is it for? Because the players who were already enjoying the game didn't need machina. If I was a new player, I'd see these masses of red portals that I couldn't **** because they're all level 8 and my weapons won't work, I can't make a field to cover my village and call it my own because there's too much to destroy. The simple fact is people have way more important and engaging things to do with their time than spend their very little free time **** a bot that plays for free. The point of the game is to control minds and capture the earth for your faction, this core purpose in the game is now not possible. So what has the game become? "I reclaimed the most portals from the bot!" ? No thankyou.
