Re: Ingress Insights - New Podcast
There was a bit where I needed to record a video to confirm I was a person, and then an extra thing to have clickable links and whatnot. All that is done and sorted now, so easier going forwards, it was just the initial set up.

Re: January - March 2024 Schedule [Discussion]
Seems to be lost on Brian or whoever makes these decisions. I think part of the problem is part of the player base is old school and threatens to leave anytime there is even a small change to traditional gameplay. Then the other half who are newer or just want something more engaging. Trying to keep both sides happy doesn't sound easy or fun.
But, I think the game will continue to struggle if they don't evolve with who is playing the game and who COULD play the game, meaning, the game needs to evolve with the world of mobile gaming. If Brian thinks a couple of worldwide events a year, the same played out FS/SS events each month and some anomalies most people can't afford to attend is the way to take this game into the future, well, that's just mind-boggling to me.
There is a reason games like clash of clans, survivor.io, PoGo and candy crush keep people hooked, because they keep folks engaged and they add features, switch things up, remove things that aren't working, etc. They keep a good pulse of what's actually relevant and what people are spending their time doing. That all seems to be missing from Ingress. I know the games I mentioned are somewhat different, but I think the analogy works. I'm sure those devs can produce stats, their community specialist type folks can look at their feeds/forums and they can all sit down and go, players seems to love this, but this doesn't seem to be working. Okay, lets divert attention here. Unfortunately, as well, I'm guessing big daddy niantic is saying, hey, get those Ingress Agents (employees) to scan more and make more wayspots. We need more data, don't worry about upgrading missions or drones, they work well enough.
I don't envision Niantic making any serious strides at actually making this game any more fun or engaging to play than it is right now. It's clear @NianticBrian is perfectly content with "that's the way we've always done it" and hoping he can keep developing the scanning aspect of this game so by the time he completely lets Ingress fall to the wayside, he'll have something else he can jump over to.
Re: January - March 2024 Schedule [Discussion]
I was thinking maybe instead of x2 Tuesday, have the time period dedicated to an unique gameplay.
Like for the month of January, the 4-9 pm Tuesday period allows agents to deploy 4 mods. (x2 AP wouldn't be a thing here)
For February, agents can throw 16 links (x2 the normal amount) out from portals.
and so on
Re: Ingress in 2024
I recall my comment on the new years resolutions thread for 2023
What’s your New Years Resolution as an Agent and what should Ingress’ be? — Ingress
The personal goals for 2023 were achieved - I co-hosted a first saturday in London in February 2023 and I recursed as blue shortly after the Brighton anomaly. My personal targets for 2024 will be to level up all the silver I can to gold in my badge profile, recurse again and contribute towards a large mission banner in London.
The new years resolutions I suggested for niantic were advertising the game better and restoring the 90 second cooldown time down from 300 seconds. Niantic haven't advertised ingress at all as far as I know so this new years resolution for niantic gets carried over into 2024. With respect to cooldown, the introduction of overclock has somewhat mitigated the negative effect of the 90 seconds back to 300 seconds decision. So that more portals can be overclock hacked, and so that scanning related badges can continue to be earnt by players who want them niantic's 2024 resolution should be to roll out scanning support across more mobile hardware.
Re: January - March 2024 Schedule [Discussion]
They need try new formats of challenges to attract new players not just the standard FS and SS, its already for sure it will be less anomalies next year for some reason the sites go down from 3 to 2 why....
Not sure why agent ops is so delayed cant they just take the code from the other games they all run on unity anyways
Tumbleweed and the dusty road...
Silence everywhere. Awww! Is there anyone alive? Administrator? Moderator of this forum? Are you guys still alive? How is Brian doing there and are there any surviving employees? How is the last programmer doing, and do you have someone responsible for the plot in the game?
Is anyone actually keeping an eye on this whole sad situation?
The forum of the once great game is empty. No more than a few dozen players meet there for periodic communication. The gaming base and online are decreasing everywhere you look.
There is a dominance of bots all around, farming resources, recharging resonators, and so on. And many other problems!
Nobody wants to listen to the players, and therefore they leave the game en masse. And many are simply tired of the game without interesting updates.
Niantic staff! I am creating this topic for you!!! So that you can finally take a look at how sad the state of your game is! Read the forum, chat with players! At least make some bug fixes or a bot detection system. I'm not talking about new functionality or plot. Please pay attention to your dying game!!!
This message will be sent to all official communication channels from the Niantic company. I ask all concerned agents to help in drawing the attention of company employees to the problems of the game.
Re: Ingress in 2024
Ingress is still around in 2024. That's pretty amazing already. I'm not sure the players are still around though. Many have switched over to the newer better looking games. Instead of the generic triangle looking icon used for the player it would be nice to see a character instead. The game feels extremely basic compared to other games. Some kind of visually appealing animation would be nice. Something to give the game a more current feel rather than looking like a ten year old game. And yes fix the lag. With as few players left there should be no server lag anymore.
