Re: Ingress in 2024
What gets me is they have APIs for anomalies and global events to gather stats. This stuff is accessible online. For instance, Darsana Prime stats for random portal hacks? here you go
This could probably be pushed to a website.
Re: Ingress in 2024
@Shottix I've been playing the durables game for close to a decade, and I'm aware that "I can't get to it" doesn't mean that it's inaccessible.
There are plenty of ways that a portal that was once accessible can become inaccessible. Imagine, for example, that a volcano erupted and lava flow blocked all access to an area. Landslides, fires, and other natural disasters can and do have a similar impact. A facility that used to be accessible may be fenced/walled off and no longer accessible to anyone. There are other ways this can happen too.
If I remember correctly the current standard is that one person must be able to safely access the wayspot. I think that was maybe an OK standard years ago because it was self-limiting... the number of keys that people could get was pretty much proportionate to the accessibility of the wayspot. I know that wasn't always the case but it was generally true. Allowing keys to duplicate has completely broken this relationship and a portal that essentially nobody has access to can have thousands or tens of thousands of keys collectively distributed among players' inventories. The massive mismatch between the difficulty of accessing a portal and the number of keys available has made it possible for one faction to completely control a geographic area for months or years, with the other faction essentially having no way to compete.
Niantic also isn't very good at removing wayspots that are no longer accessible, but it's highly random.
Basically, the legacy of key duplication combined with some portals becoming far less accessible over time has killed the strategic game in some areas. I think this is a very difficult problem to solve and any solution will make some people unhappy, but I think the current situation leads to stagnation and reduced competition. I love the game of hiking up mountains, renting snowmobiles, and chartering boats to get to durable portals. That stuff's fun and challenging. I don't like portals that maybe a handful of people in the world ever have access to and your only option is to identify those people and try to recruit one of them to play Ingress for your team.
My goal with this request is to improve the competitiveness of the game.
Re: Upcoming changes to First Saturday as of January 2024
The only way many people can participate is virtual. TIme and money as well as health to travel hours make it impossible. I was not able before virtual and evidently will not be able to now. Not everyone lives in or near large population areas. Virtual fs has made it possible for me to be part of a group, to be part of the chat, the faction etc. It made ingress more. Answer why I would do it in the future if nothing I did counted for me, my faction or the locality I played with.
Re: The forgotten drone
I posted a drone idea in the 'Ingress in 2024' thread. I proposed traveling links, but also a very limited ability to attack portals over 100 days old. I expect a lot of disagrees. :)

Because ingress is the forgotten child.
Re: Ingress Insights - New Podcast
I've listened to it. Not sure if you are working on a new episode but there is a lot to talk about after this week.
Devra & Akira: The Chronos File [Discussion]
Agents,
An intercepted transcript has revealed the involvement of two renowned scientists, Akira Tsukasa and Devra Bogdanovich, in a new and potentially dangerous experiment – one that builds upon these two researchers’ experimental attack on Machina earlier in the year.
Despite differences in opinion on their next steps, it seems clear that what they are preparing for could have far-reaching consequences – consequences that could have effects beyond the Discoverie XM Anomaly series.
Remain alert to further intelligence on their plans and be prepared to take appropriate action as necessary.
To assist this investigation, two files have been retrieved from deep storage within the Niantic Archives,
- Limited-time Loadout Kit with Niantic Project Archives re-release of the Akira 2017 medal (30,800 CMU).
- Limited-time Loadout Kit with Niantic Project Archives re-release of the Devra Bogdanovich 2017 medal (30,800 CMU).
Agents, your input is invaluable and continues to shape NIA strategy.
Remain vigilant. When engaging in XM investigations and operations, adherence to local health and security protocols is imperative.
For current intelligence on Ingress field activities and operational enhancements, consult Ingress Newsregularly.
Stay informed and prepared, Agents.

Re: Ingress Surveys going out via email
I did mine yesterday no issues i wrote specific the game needs more events if they want the userbase to grow i hope they listen.
No idea last year since it was years ago i got any survey
Re: Ingress Origins Series - Complete Collection.
I really don't understand Nyantic Supply Support. Its like they don't read the previous entries in their support tickets.
First order, then sent to the incorrect address that I removed from their system, but apparently they re-added it? Building has no business there anymore, it should of been either forwarded to our new work address or should of been return to sender.
Second order came to the correct address, but I had to email about it, no personalized boxes or any boxes.
Now they are gonna send me those boxes, but they are gonna be blank. (no personalization). I guess I will break out the label maker and make my own labels. One of a kind...
If it's going to take this much time going to support and hoping they reply and send the correct stuff to the correct address, its really not worth spending money on it.
