Re: Tumbleweed and the dusty road...
Whatever energy they used for it...they kept it closed beta and only for Austin.
Re: Tumbleweed and the dusty road...
I've all but quit playing this game in the past several months. I have some big things going on in my personal life that I need to focus on, but also, there was just less and less joy in playing Ingress, so it made sense to cut it out almost entirely. The only time I play at this point is when I'm on the road for work and have downtime or just out driving. It was a mix of in-game reasons, but also just a lack of trust that the Ingress team was going to actually put the effort needed to make this game something worth playing. It's been a series of events that all point to the bare minimum effort.
Apologies and communication go a heck of a long way for me and I think, most people. There has been almost none of that the past several years. Some random bits and pieces, but mostly silence and little effort. It's crazy how far an AMA with Brian went each time he did them. The forums were buzzing, telegram, twitter, etc. All from 30 minutes of his time where he vaguely answered questions that weren't even "hard" questions, lol. I think he's done a couple in the past 3-4 years.
Yet, he's also got on here and asked the community to step up for the game and to invite our friends to play, to leave 5 star ratings to boost search results, etc. Wait, you won't give us the time of day until you're asking for something from us.....lol That's an interesting way to engage with the community. But hey, at this point, some of y'all refuse to let go and that's cool. If Brian can keep tricking you into a CORE membership, but not actually provide anything new in Ingress, just the hopes of 3D models and a task system, then, that's on you...
Me, if I've got time to play a game, I'd rather play something where the developers seem excited about the game, offer actual updates, seem engaged with the community and that any money I do spend on it, is actually doing something besides keeping it afloat. Also, hundreds of other mobile games I can play where I'm not harassed, followed around and/or accused of dirty play. Nothing like walking around a park building some triangles only to tell my wife we're being watching from a vehicle and it's time to leave.
Re: [Discussion] Operation Chronos
@ZeroHecksGiven I have a counter-argument to this: Overclock may be useful to the game but AR isn't, except that Niantic has artificially made it so. They could have just as easily implemented overclocking by requiring a ten-glyph sequence or something like that, but they implemented it to push the AR agenda into a game where AR really isn't relevant.
Re: [Discussion] Operation Chronos
I'm by no means a fan of all this, was just offering a counterpoint to the argument that it's useless or that there is no benefit. That being said, I've come across plenty of those as well. Even worse that you can't see the scan data anywhere but a web browser, so even if you're at a VPS enabled portal, but can't seem to calibrate, you won't figure it out until some hours later when you're back home.
Re: Ingress in 2024
Scan Moar! Moar events based on a metric that many people can't do. Ummm...what else? Sell MOAR hackable gear in the store, because we don't want to unbalance the game. Hmm...oh yeah, do an anomaly in a town, where a huge convention is already set at during that weekend, and where hotel prices are already crazy high, ensuring many agent won't attend.
Did I miss anything?
Maybe some more new agent tutorial stuffs or something else that doesn't benefit 99% of those playing.
Re: Impossible Mission Banner Approved?
Then its just a mission set you can't complete. Someone can, so its legit.
If you like the images, take 'em and create your own that is able to be done.
2024 badge removed from store early?
Had an agent that wanted to buy the badge today but checked just now and it was removed with 3 hours still left in 2023. What gives?
Edit: disregard I had the agent force delete cache and it returned.
Re: [Discussion] Operation Chronos
I finally tried the overclock thing and it has to be the most useless thing to do in the game. At least I can say I tried it but since it does nothing for the game I can't say I'll ever do it again. I can glyph a portal without waving my phone around like an idiot. There's no benefit to scanning in Ingress. If that's the future of the game I think I'll pass. These events just aren't doing it for anyone.
Re: 2024 Q1 ingress events - remote badge?
Considering the survey sent by email, I think it will be the test of anomaly medals with levels.
