Re: Ingress in 2024
As a new / young member, I can say that this game really just needs some updates. Yes, it does need to be marketed (hours of life spent on this game because I stumbled across it in the app store), but I think certain things about the ui should be improved as well. I never used the old Ingress and can definitely say Prime looks better, but things like Missions / Scrolling / New agent tutorial is just really confusing. I was never taught about certain core features of the game for a while and eventually learned about them later (eg long pressing hack for a glyph hack).
Some way to get CMU besides $ would be nice. Someone in this thread said higher levels but I think 16 is enough tbh.
Also, I'm just gonna say it. Intel needs to be updated, it has a really old look.
I think this could be a really popular game in 2024; it is not a cool new concept anymore which I think is why it had popularity to begin with (but what do I know) and needs new things. Alright, I'll stop yappin now
Re: Tumbleweed and the dusty road...
The issue is - without influx of players - there is no player turnover. In the past 'leaders' would come and go and there was fresh blood at the top of local sandcastle more regularly. (Yeah it wasn't ideal then).
Now - with no new player influx - only the crustiest "out of my cold dead hands" leaders are left and things are, if anything more tightly controlled, or, not controlled at all. (Yes I'm a crusty "out of my cold dead hands" type, but at least I realise the situations bad).
I wish Niantic would just shut the game down tbh.
Re: No resolution
You can't even currently tell who's new these days because of the mass of "agent has completed training" messages in faction comms from agents who haven't played in years or even in a decade.
A few older agents who have actually reinstalled the app and logged in were shocked to see gear available in the store and uninstalled. "just as bad as spoofing" was the comment from one of them who originally quit do to agents spoofing and multi accounting. *sigh*
Re: Israel - Palestine.
Completely different dynamic, no.
Get your leadership to leave Ukraine and repair infrastructure on the way out, you'll get your game back.
Re: What’s the point in playing when…
Not a dead game when you promote it effectively.
That is what Niantic has done an awful job of doing.
Before COVID there was a summer in my home Metro system where it was nothing but pokego advertising.
Equal time Niantic for what is a superior game.
3 Years of C.O.R.E. subscription
My subscription renewed for the 36th month and today, and I'll admit I am a little bummed they didn't release 3 year badge. Oh well, I didn't start my subscription for a badge. The extra 500 spaces of inventory has been great! The price bump is questionable, but still understandable. I still love Ingress.
Re: What’s the point in playing when…
Stop buying their swag, subscribing to core, and buying items in the ingress store.
Do this until *someone* from niantic gives their plan for improvement and responding to player feedback.
Stop rewarding them for this complete radio silence.
Re: Question about politics, demolished portals and the relevance of the portal database.
This was put into the scientific spotlight when an organization destroyed thousands of years old monuments, some had been save by high precision scans.
But the tangleible thing is gone.
Re: 2024 Q1 ingress events - remote badge?
A year since the MZFPK Anomaly which was a very rough Agent Ops Hexathlon.
But it showed that the format was very well received by the majority of players
