Re: Cryptic Memories Anomaly Series - Details (Discussion)
That’s in May, so will be for Q2’s Anomaly series.
Re: Reviewing Ingress Year 10 AKA How should Hexathlons be bought back?
She logged in semi-recently on the forums I think. But I do also wonder about the life the forums have left with no Niantic interaction.

Every negative post, I'm just buying another Dr Pepper.
Let's stay positive, agents! I believe in niantic and want to pay more for core.
Re: Cryptic Memories Anomaly Series - Details (Discussion)
It is keeping me inside, to be honest. I don't have the time to clear all the Machina-misery that might be handy for the few players out there that aim for the Cryptic Memories-badge.
For those who do not participate, Machina has gotten so aggressive again that it retakes portals within 24 hours or less and totally overgrows entire areas. It keeps throwing blocklinks from hard to reach portals so often that it is getting a nuisance. Fielding is becoming nearly impossible.
When a player from the opposing team does this: awesome. I really like that, as someone has put effort in it! But this is just an algorithm, a virtual spoofer that's causing this just causing frustration. And no, I will NOT spend any of my precious time, effort or gas for that.
I just hope that after February 5th Machina will disappear asap. Until then, I wish all the Cryptic Memories badge-hunters good luck.
(edit: typo)
Re: Cryptic Memories: Global Op [Discussion]
I just realized you can team up with another agent and upgrade resos on each other. 54 points for each portal. That really helps trying to find portals if the density is low.
The only thing is you would need to have a inventory of all number resos
Re: Push Notifications Not Appearing
Chat with support via in-app chat suggested re-installing Ingress. Did so, making sure to clarify that the settings for notifs have been enabled this whole time. This did not solve the issue.
Re: Would GPS-less play work in Ingress?
Its called they want money, even if you don't wanna move.
This type of a change would defeat the purpose of Ingress. It's time to move agent!
Re: [Discussion] Ingress 2.133.1 Release Notes
Ingress has a client-server architecture. The client is what lives on your phone. When you take any action in the game (and even when you don't) the Ingress client sends messages to the Ingress servers to get information and/or to send them information. For example, if you fired a burster the client would send that information to the Ingress servers, and the servers would respond with relevant updates. If you move around, the Ingress client will send messages to the server to get information about the map, XM on the ground, portals around you, etc. [insert a lot of handwaving because I'm speaking conceptually rather than with knowledge of the exact messaging structure]
The API is essentially the language that the Ingress client and servers speak to each other. It might go something like this:
CLIENT: Hey, I deployed a level 1 resonator on this portal
SERVER: Here is the new status of the portal (details about resos, mods, etc) and the amount of AP that was awarded for that deploy.
APIs can be complicated, and there are often ways that they can be optimized. They could be grouping requests that happen rapidly, sending/receiving less data on each request, or any number of other things.
TL;dr: Niantic made a change to the language that the scanner and servers speak to each other.
Re: Goodbye scanning, goodbye CORE
Having to win by hoping the other team quits. Toads gonna toad.
