Re: Accepted wayspot never made it to Ingress, despite there being no portals within 20 meters
Recent NIA activity in Canberra, Australia, saw large numbers of Wayspots retired and unretired at certain locations such as the Australian War Memorial over the last week.
However, due to this bug, portals which should be eligible to go back online as portals have not.
This is illustrated in the below image. All purple dots represent things that are live in Wayfarer app, with exact coordinates. Orange are the live portals, with a 20 metre radius shown.
Purple dots inside the 20 metre radius should not go online -- that part is correct -- but then those Wayspots are blocking others from going live.
The 30 purple dots outside the 20 metre radius represent Wayspots which should have/could have gone live as portals. If this bug were not occurring, approximately 9 additional portals would be present (e.g. the blue circles added below).
This has also happened at the ACT Memorial. One or two additional portals should be present here given the distribution of Wayspots.
And another nearby area which is missing approximately 8 portals:
Just to be clear, these portals USED TO BE LIVE. Niantic retired the Wayspots in these areas last week, which made them disappear from Pokemon Go and Ingress, and then restored them a day later. They reappeared in Pokemon Go, but did not reappear correctly in Ingress due to this inclusion bug.
Re: Portal nomination and approval
guess niantic prefers quantity over quality. The more poi in their games the better or something
Re: Happy three years of CORE
OK I'll take the bait better. The first three years of C.O.R.E cost $194.64. That's 31 months at $4.99, and 5 months at $7.99.
And gave countless hours of enjoyment, excitement, satisfaction.
Re: Ingress: The Animation Character Badges revealed
I thought of it the same way that there’s a new series of Pokémon when the new games come out. They have the new generation of Pokémon in it to make people want them and get the games. Or a new Yu-Gi-Oh series to get the cards and many similar ones
I would have thought they had hoped by showing what you can do in the games that they would think people picked it up, so they could do another season with a focus on Machina I’m sure.
Re: Research Bounties activated
Daily Bounties are in a pilot phase.
We can see with how popular they've been that weekly, monthly and event Bounties will be a thing.
Shard Night was a ton of fun!
I attended the Shard Night in Bielefeld, Germany today and honestly speaking, I think it legitimately was the most fun I had during an "anomaly"! Without divulging too much cause of OpSec, the event was a lot less stressful than normal anomalies and having it only be an hour also helped in not running out of gear or getting too bored. With the smaller scale it also really felt like your actions made a difference, especially if you just threw the link that the Shard travels through or took the portal down just in time to prevent the jump.
One thing I'd love to have changed though is the way you ultimately get the badge in the end. While it wasn't a problem for me and my team, we had at least one Agent that couldn't get it because all the Battle Beacons were already fully charged and upgraded so they couldn't get their interaction in. Adding a simple hack as an interaction would ensure that everyone get the badge :)
Re: Ingress: The Animation Character Badges revealed
It didn't advertise ****. The anime was boring. I never watched all of it. People who did watch it, didn't start playing Ingress. Waste of money. They should of done that when they were still part of Google.
Re: Ingress: The Animation Character Badges revealed
Was it really advertising anything?
Re: Ingress: The Animation Character Badges revealed
I hope not. It's a waste of money. Spend that money on fixing bugs, quality of life updates, maybe actually advertising the game to try to gain new agents...
Re: Ingress: The Animation Character Badges revealed
The anime is beyond dead, I’m afraid. While I would love to see a sequel, I think this is just Niantic trying to sell kits with a low effort. It doesn’t even look they tried too much on working on a design.
