Re: wrong BAN
There's very few legitimate players left and they are leaving too. Ingress may be popular in some areas but overall it's not what it used to be. The bad actors have ruined it for everyone. But considering it was one of the first augmented reality games you have to expect some flaws. The game mechanics favor those with more numbers. It's never been a level playing field. It's like playing chess with a queen and a bishop against an opponent with every single piece. And one opponent can keep creating new pieces to help bolster their side. Rules don't matter to some and there is no enforcement mechanism to combat the bad actors. It's a great concept for a game but too many exploits to consider it fair.
Re: wrong BAN
This does nothing its outsourced and they just look to whether the ban applied matches on both sides of the system. Same as runescape.
Re: Goodbye Ingress forums
Sad to hear, though it was coming eventually, but "use the subreddit" is so laughably out of touch as a replacement but also on point for Niantic's history of miscommunication. Especially since there are even more bitter players there happily down voting anything another faction does than in here. I guess though most people who worked on Ingress and tried to interact have left the company anyway.
In app support chat is largely useless, always been a pita to use and last I used it could only have one issue open at once.
Going to be impossible to deal with cheaters now, I guess that's how this game's final decline will be marked.
Extra sad to hear that the forum's will just be totally deleted, so there goes all game discussions, existing problem solving and history of events and activities.
At least Niantic is finally admitting that they can't be bothered to properly run a forum though, given the ridiculous restrictions for warnings with no explanation ever what you were warned for.
Goodluck everyone, thanks for all the salty fish.
Re: Goodbye Ingress forums
Since Niantic doesn't want to use the forum, they could at least leave the forum for reading, there are years of history of the game and the players.
Re: Why no Niantic forums?
niantic (lower case to show disrespect) is no longer interested in managing or dealing with the Ingress community. This is why they are farming it out to a player-run subreddit.
Re: Why no Niantic forums?
I will note here that, a number of other games have also closed their forums, or just used Discord from the beginning.
@NianticBrian why not use Discord?
Especially since it was noted ladt week at GDC 2024 that Niantic and Discord have partnered together.
But also like the OP, why not have o e set of Niantic forums for all products and games?
